Three instances when Yashasvi Jaiswal got run out in Test cricket

One of the important member of this team is Yashasvi Jaiswal. His rise in Test cricket has been one of the most interesting stories in India’s new generation. The Left-handed opener has combined attacking strokeplay with the ability to play long innings, making him an important player for India in the red-ball format.
The 24-year-old has already played several memorable Test knocks and has shown that he is not afraid to take risks against both pace and spin. His ability to put pressure on bowlers from the start has often helped India get quick runs in the opening stages of an innings.
He has already played several big knocks in a short Test career, including a 214 against England and a 173 against Australia. However, an aggressive style can sometimes bring moments of risk, especially when it comes to running between the wickets.
Although, the young opener has already played several big knocks in Test cricket, he has got run out on three instances. On that note, we take a look at instances when he got run out in Tests.
3 occasions when Yashasvi Jaiswal got run out in Test cricket
1. Yashasvi Jaiswal vs Australia, MCG 2024
At the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Yashasvi Jaiswal was batting beautifully against Australia and had built a strong partnership with Virat Kohli. Jaiswal reached 82 off 118 balls, with 11 fours and a six; he was only 18 runs away from a century.
Jaiswal drove Scott Boland towards mid-on and immediately set off for a single. However, Kohli did not respond to the call and remained at his end. Jaiswal had already travelled too far down the pitch, and Alex Carey pulled the bail.
2. Yashasvi Jaiswal vs West Indies, Delhi 2025
The second instance was even more painful. During the second Test against West Indies in Delhi in October 2025, Jaiswal played one of the best innings of his Test career. He scored 175 off 258 balls, hitting 22 fours and was just 25 runs short of a double century.
But his innings again ended in a run-out. Jaiswal and Shubman Gill got involved in a mix-up, leaving the opener short of his crease.
3. Yashasvi Jaiswal vs Sri Lanka, Galle Test 2026
The third dismissal came on the final ball of the 11th over, with Sri Lankan debutant Keshara Nuwantha bowling to KL Rahul.
Rahul played the delivery towards mid-on and immediately called for a single. Jaiswal responded to the call from the non-striker’s end. However, as the spinner moved to stop the ball, he collided with Jaiswal, causing Jaiswal to lose his footing and fall.
By this point, Rahul had already moved towards the other end. Jaiswal got back up, but there was confusion between both the batters, and they ended up at the same end, leaving Jaiswal short of his crease. After receiving the ball, Sri Lankan wicketkeeper Niroshan Dickwella pulled the bails off.
With this, Jaiswal walked back after scoring 32 runs from 37 balls, including five boundaries. Jaiswal was in good touch, but it was a disappointing end to what had been a promising start for the left-hander.
How many times has Jaiswal been run out in Test cricket?
The dismissal against Sri Lanka was the third run-out of Yashasvi Jaiswal’s Test career. He was previously run out against Australia and the West Indies.
