IPL 2023: Big worry for KKR as Andre Russell walks off the field during match against SRH
Andre Russell got two wickets in his first over while bowling first time for KKR this season.
Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) big gun Andre Russell walked off the field after bowling two overs for the franchise in their ongoing IPL 2023 game at home in Eden Gardens in Kolkata on April 14, 2023.
Russell was the one who gave inroads to the KKR franchise, who won the toss and chose to bowl first on a batting beauty.
Andre Russell has been dealing with some issues with fitness and it was evident from the way he was struggling after bowling two overs. However, in his first over itself, he got the wickets of Mayank Agarwal for 9 runs and then accounted for the dangerous Rahul Tripathi who made 9 runs as well, hitting two boundaries.
However, after bowling his second over, Russell went down on his knees amidst some of the hottest temperatures in Kolkata and the physio ran in to treat him. After some words with him, the big man from Jamaica walked off the field with him.
Despite losing two early wickets, Harry Brook finally showed why he got such a huge amount in the IPL 2023 auction, scoring his maiden IPL fifty in 32 balls, while captain Aiden Markram reached the mark in just 25 balls, hitting 5 sixes and 2 fours.
Sunrisers Hyderabad makes one change; Kolkata Knight Riders play with same team
Meanwhile, Nitish Rana won the toss for Kolkata Knight Riders and decided to bowl first and announced that they were going in with the same team which won their last match against Guajarati Titans.
It was also reported that 20-year-old Gujarat opener Aarya Desai has joined the KKR franchise for INR 20 lakhs. He has played three first-class games so far, and no T20s.
On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad made one change, brining in opener Abhishek Sharma for Washington Sundar.
