Prithvi Shaw scored 12,7,0,15,0,13 in 6 matches in the IPL 2023 opening for Delhi Capitals.

Delhi Capitals have finally decided to give their struggling opening batter Prithvi Shaw a break in the IPL 2023. Prithvi Shaw has been out of touch in the Indian Premier League after a fruitful season in domestic cricket with Mumbai. DC used Shaw as an impact player this season, after continuous failures in the tournament, DC management decided to take on Sunrisers Hyderabad without Prithvi Shaw in the top order. Apart from Captain David Warner, Delhi’s top order is struggling to score this season. Warner is the leading run-scorer for the Capitals in the IPL 2023.

DC dump out of form Prithvi Shaw

Right-hand batter, Prithvi Shaw has not gone past 15 runs mark this season. In 6 innings he has scored only 47 runs. He got out on a duck against Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Shaw looked under pressure in all the innings and threw his wicket away with reckless shots. David Warner at the toss said, “We know he is a very good player, He will be working on getting back in the team, he is very hungry and determined and probably he will make his way back in the eleven”. Warner also hinted that Shaw has been dropped due to his poor show with the bat.

Young Prithvi Shaw is continuously on the radar of former players, his reckless batting has made senior players question his approach and his determination. Shaw had a fantastic domestic season with the bat for Mumbai and now his performance in the IPL has dented his chances to get into the Indian Cricket Team as well. Starting this year, Prithvi Shaw had played 379 runs knock against Assam at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. Delhi Capitals have brought in Sarfaraz Khan and Ripal Patel in their playing eleven. David Warner walked out with Phill Salt to open the inning and Salt also disappointed DC. Salt was out on a golden duck against Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
