Eliminator, LSG Vs MI Preview: Lucknow, Mumbai in fight to finish in IPL Eliminator
LSG Vs MI Preview: Mumbai are yet to register a win against Lucknow in the IPL.
Mumbai Indians have scripted one of the greatest comebacks in the history of the Indian Premier League at the halfway mark after everyone expected MI to be out of the playoffs race. Mumbai’s batting put all the doubts away from the equation as they chased down three 200-plus totals this season. Cameron Green, Tim David, Suryakumar Yadav, Nehal Wadhera, and Tilak Verma contributed to MI. Now, they have Lucknow’s challenge at their hands. They will take on Lucknow Super Giants in the Eliminator game at Chepauk stadium in Chennai. MI’s batting will be tested against a decent Lucknow Super Giants pace attack. Mumbai’s entry in the playoffs along with their win against Sunrisers Hyderabad has boosted their morale to face Lucknow in a big game. This is Lucknow Super Giants' second playoff in their second IPL. They have made a hat-trick of wins against Mumbai Indians. LSG have won all three encounters against Mumbai. Mumbai had a poor run in the IPL 2022 as well as in the initial stages of this season.
After suffering a few injury concerns in the mid-IPL season, Lucknow have bounced back nicely under their interim captain Krunal Pandya. After losing to his younger brother Hardik in Ahmedabad, Krunal-led Lucknow won three consecutive games including one against Mumbai by 5 runs at Ekana. Lucknow comparatively to MI, have a star bowling line-up that can tackle MI’s firepower batting at Chepauk. Ravi Bishnoi, and Amit Mishra played crucial roles in Lucknow’s journey to the playoffs. Apart from these two, Captain Krunal also had a decent time in the IPL 2023 so far. Naveen ul Haq, Avesh Khan, and Mohsin Khan are the three pacers in the playing eleven. Mumbai will bank on Piyush Chawla, who has got 20 wickets in the season so far. MI’s pace bowling is inexperienced, though they had few good games but in a crunch game how they tackle the likes of Quinton De Kock and Marcus Stoinis will be interesting to watch. Akash Madhwal is running high in confidence and is in a good rhythm. He picked up 4 wickets against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
LSG vs MI Pitch Report:
Chennai will be an interesting wicket to watch in the eliminator. As there are two back-to-back games in two days, the pitch is expected to be dry and a little slower. Chepauk had hosted multiple games where teams have challenged each other even in a big run chase, Mumbai Indians' batsmen will have a huge responsibility tackling Lucknow’s all-round bowling attack. Ravi Bishnoi and Amit Mishra’s partnership may make a huge impact on the game as well.
LSG vs MI Team News
There are no major injury news around the teams. MI and Lucknow, both are expected to go with their full-strength squad at Chepauk. Mohsin Khan’s comeback has made Lucknow even stronger than they were in pace bowling. Mumbai will also look to carry on with their winning eleven from Sunrisers Hyderabad game on Sunday.
