IPL 2023: LSG name Arpit Guleria as replacement for Mayank Yadav

LSG rope in the services of Arpit Guleria as Mayank Yadav's replacement for remainder of IPL 2023.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have named Arpit Guleria as the replacement for their injured player Mayank Yadav for the rest of the ongoing IPL 2023 season.

A fast bowler hailing from Himachal Pradesh and now playing for services, Guleria has taken 44 wickets in 15 first-class matches and 11 wickets in 12 List-A Games.

Arpit Guleria will take the place of fellow fast bowler Mayank Yadav in the Lucknow Super Giants' squad after the latter was ruled out of the ongoing IPL 2023 due to an injury. The nature of Yadav's injury, however, is not clear.

Guleria will pocket Rs 20 lakh after being picked as a replacement, an IPL statement read.

Lucknow Super Giants readying for face off against Punjab Kings

Meanwhile, LSG will face off against Punjab Kings on Saturday in a night match at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow, and will look for a win. The KL Rahul-led side are currently second in the IPL 2023 points table with six points from four matches, packed with three wins and a defeat. Rajasthan Royals are on top of the standings with the same amount of points, but with a higher net run rate.

Kyle Mayers’ might get replaced by Quinton de Kock, who is available for selection despite the West Indian being in good form in IPL 2023 being LSG's second-highest run-scorer with 139 runs in four matches.

Nicholas Pooran is their highest run-getter with 141 in four outings. On the other hand, Mark Wood is their highest wicket-taker, with the England pacer having bagged nine wickets in three matches. He manifested a five-wicket haul against Delhi Capitals here.

With only a day between games, PBKS did not practice on match eve in Lucknow. Liam Livingstone, who pulled up muscle after his late arrival in India, is unlikely to be available just yet.
