Match 46 between LSG & CSK of IPL 2023 was originally scheduled on Thursday, 4th May, 2023
In an update, the BCCI confirmed that the Match 46 of the ongoing IPL 2023 between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), which was scheduled to be played on May 4 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow has now been rescheduled.
The match which was to be played on May 4, Thursday, has now been preponed a day before to May 3rd and will be played at the same time, 3:30 pm in the afternoon.
"IPL 2023 match 46 between Lucknow Super Giants and Chennai Super Kings, originally scheduled for Thursday 4th May 2023 in Lucknow, has now been rescheduled for Wednesday 3rd May 2023. The fixture has been revised owing to the Lucknow Municipal Corporation election on 4th May. There has been no change in match timings and the game will begin at 3:30 PM IST,” an IPL release said.
This will be the first time Lucknow will host Chennai Super Kings in an IPL match and the home team will be looking to put the pressure on MS Dhoni's men.
This means that Wednesday, May 3 will be a double-header as Punjab Kings will host Mumbai Indians in the evening game that begins at 7:30 pm at the IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali.
Chennai Super Kings had prevailed over Lucknow Super Giants in their previous meeting
Meanwhile, CSK had previously hosted LSG on April 3 at the M Chidambaram stadium in Chennai, in what was their first home IPL game after more than three years.
CSK had put on 217/7 in 20 overs with Ruturaj Gaikwad making 57 and Devon Conway making 47 runs. Then MS Dhoni gave the innings the perfect finish hitting LSG pacer Mark Wood for two sixes consecutively in the last over.
In reply, despite Kyle Mayers’ 22-ball 53-run knock, the CSK bowling unit managed to keep LSG to 205/7 with significant contributions from Nicolas Pooran (32 in 18) and Ayush Badoni (23 in 18). Moeen Ali’s 4/26 helped CSK win the match by 12 runs.
