Chennai and Ahmedabad to host play-offs and final of the IPL 2023.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the venues and dates for IPL 2023 final. The board has unveiled that the playoffs of the 16th season of the marquee league will take place between May 23rd to 28th in Chennai and Ahmedabad.
The M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai will host the first qualifier on the 23rd, followed by the eliminator on the 24th. The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will stage the second qualifier on the 26th, with the final hosted by the same venue on the 28th.
IPL 2023 Play-offs & Final schedule:
The Gujarat Titans are the defending champions, having defeated the Rajasthan Royals by seven wickets in the decider of the 2022 edition in Ahmedabad. They also played the season opener this year against the Chennai Super Kings and chased down 179 in the 20th over with five wickets to spare
Sunrisers Hyderabad and Chennai Super Kings lock horns in the 29th match of IPL 2023
Meanwhile, the 29th fixture of IPL 2023 is between the SunRisers Hyderabad and Chennai Super Kings at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium. The Yellow Brigade have won the toss and elected to field first. MS Dhoni and co. have won three games out of five and are on the third spot.
On the contrary, the SunRisers lost their first two games before winning two on the bounce as Aiden Markram's leadership skills have made a massive difference. However, they lost narrowly to the Mumbai Indians at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Hence, they will be keen to pick up a win and stay in contention for a playoff spot. Based on the current standings, Rajasthan Royals are on the top with four wins in six games.
