IPL 2023 Updated points table, Orange cap & Purple cap after Match 35 between GT & MI
Hosts, Gujarat Titans defeated MI to climb up to the 2nd spot in the IPL 2023 points table.
Gujarat Titans have continued their dominance with the ball in the second game back-to-back. After defending a low score at Ekana, Gujarat beat Mumbai Indians convincingly by 55 runs at Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad. Gujarat with the help of their middle order and Shubhman Gill (56) put up a huge total on the board. Abhinav Manohar (42) and David Miller’s (46) 71 runs partnership in 6 overs put Titans on the verge of 200. Later Rahul Tewatia with his signature cameo of 20 runs in 5 balls gave Mumbai the target of 208 runs. The Titans added 35 runs in the last 11 balls. In reply, Mumbai crumbled against Titans Afghani duo, Rashid and Noor Ahmed. They both picked up 5 wickets to give the Titans an edge over MI. Mumbai batters failed to put big partnerships and were 5 down in the first 10 overs. Nehal Wadhera was the top scorer for MI with 40 runs in 21 balls.

It’s all about openers in the orange cap race. Gujarat Titans opener Shubhman Gill is one of the most consistent batters in the IPL 2023. Gill played a magnificent knock of 56 runs in 34 balls. He is now among the top 5 leading run scorers in this season. Gill with 284 runs in 7 innings is 4th in the list. RCB captain Fad du Plessis is leading the race with 405 runs. CSK’s opener Devon Conway is 2nd with 314 runs in 7 innings. Delhi captain David Warner is 3rd on the list with 305 runs. Virat Kohli is 5th with 279 runs. Ruturaj Gaikwad has slipped out of the Top 5 list.

Titans' leg spinner and match-winner Rashid Khan picked up 2 wickets against Mumbai Indians in Ahmedabad. He picked up two left-handers, Isan Kishan, and Tilak Verma. With these wickets, he is now the leading wicket-taker in the IPL 2023 and captured Purple Cap for the day. Rashid now has 14 wickets under his name. RCB’s Mohammed Siraj is 2nd in the race with 13 wickets. Arshdeep also has 13 wickets and is 3rd. Rajasthan Royals spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is also not far behind and with 12 wickets he is 4th. Tushar Deshpande with 12 wickets, is 5th in the Purple Cap race.
