IPL 2023 Updated points table, Orange cap & Purple cap after Match 37 between RR & CSK

Rajasthan Royals defeated CSK by 32 runs to become table-toppers of the IPL 2023.

Men in Pink, Rajasthan Royals have decimated Chennai Super Kings at Sawai Mansingh stadium. Rajasthan have defeated Chennai by 32 runs to go top of the points table. Batting first, Yashaswi Jaiswal took on the CSK bowlers alone. Jaiswal’s quick start and fifty was enough to put Chennai on the back foot. Yashaswi Jaiswal played a superb innings of 77 runs in 43 balls, smashing 8 fours and 4 sixes. Dhruv Jurel (34) and Devdutt Padikkal (23) at the end of the inning helped RR post 202 runs on the board. Jurel scored 34 runs in 15 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes. Chennai were given 203 runs to chase, their batting performance was not up to the mark. Devon Conway struggled to score freely and was back in the dugout on just 8 runs in 16 balls. After a short while, CSK lost 3 back to back wickets in just two overs. This allowed Rajasthan Royals to grip the game. Coming in for Trent Boult, spinner Adam Zampa picked up 3 wickets and bagged the game for RR. Shivam Dube once again top-scored for CSK with 52 runs in 33 runs.

Rajasthan Royals after a convincing win over Chennai Super Kings are now at the top points table with 10 points and better NRR from CSK and Gujarat Titans. Chennai Super Kings have slipped down to 3rd place after a loss at Sawai Mansingh Stadium Jaipur. Lucknow Super Giants stay 4th in the table with 8 points. Delhi Capitals with only 4 points in 7 games are 10th in the table. Rajasthan Royals, Chennai Super Kings, Gujarat Titans, and Lucknow Super Giants are the top teams in the race for playoffs.

It’s all Royal Challengers Bangalore in the top 2 of the orange cap race in the IPL 2023. RCB Captain Faf du Plessis is at the top with 422 runs in 8 innings. Virat Kohli is 2nd on the list with 333 runs in 8 innings. Devon Conway had the opportunity to overtake Virat Kohli but Rajasthan Royals bowlers did not let him score freely. Conway went back to the dugout with just 8 runs scored. He is number 3 with 322 runs in 8 innings. Conway’s partner Ruturaj Gaikwad with his 47 runs made reentry in the Top 5 list. He is 4th in the list with 317 runs. David Warner is 5th in the race with 306 runs.

IPL 2023 Updated Purple cap holder:

Just like in the orange cap, Royal Challengers Bangalore pacer Mohammed Siraj is leading the purple cap with 14 wickets. Titans leg spinner Rashid Khan is 2nd in the list with 14 wickets. Chennai’s Tushar Deshpande picked up 2 wickets against Rajasthan Royals. Tushar had the opportunity to get his hand on the purple cap but he is now third in the race with 14 wickets. KKR’s mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy is 4th on the list with 13 wickets. He had a wonderful game against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Punjab Kings' pacer Arshdeep Singh is 5thin the list with 13 wickets.

On Friday, Punjab Kings will take on Lucknow Super Giants at IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali. Both teams are in similar positions in the IPL 2023. Punjab Kings and Lucknow Super Giants have played 7 games so far in the league, and have won 4 and lost 3 of them. They both share the 8 points in the Points Table. Lucknow Super Giants are placed 4th while Punjab Kings are 6th in the table. Punjab had a stunning win over Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium. Win in Friday’s game will place one of these teams among firm favorites in the Playoff race.
