IPL 2023 Updated points table, Orange cap & Purple cap after Match 39 & 40, KKR vs GT & DC vs SRH
DC have once again lost due to poor batting, while GT take their revenge against KKR on Saturday's double-header in the IPL 2023.
It’s the same old story for Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2023. Once again their batters have given disappointment to the fans. Delhi failed to chase 198 runs at Arun Jaitley Cricket stadium in Delhi. Sunrisers Hyderabad had completed their revenge on the previous game. Hyderabad won the game by 9 runs. Batting first, SRH put 197 runs on the board, and Hyderabad’s top order had a poor show. Apart from Abhishek Sharma (67) no other batter from the Top 5 could cross over 10 runs mark. Mitchell Marsh with his brilliant movement and pace sent them back into the dugout. Marsh picked up 4 wickets in his 4 overs conceding 27 runs. Heinrich Klassen took SRH's total to 197 with his blistering 53 runs in 27 balls. In reply, Bhuvi sent DC captain David Warner early. In-form Warner was out on a second ball duck. Phil Salt (59) and Mitchell Marsh (63) put up a strong partnership to steer Delhi's chase but once again the middle order collapsed. DC after the second wicket partnership lost 5 wickets in 5 overs in just 33 runs. This allowed SRH to grab the game with both hands. SRH leg spinner Mayank Markande picked up 2 wickets in just 20 runs.
Gujarat Titans finally had their revenge against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens. Titans won the rain-hit game against KKR convincingly by 7 wickets. Vijay Shankar’s quick-fire knock of 51 runs helped the Titans chase down 180 runs in the 18th over. Shankar scored his fifty in just 21 balls with 2 fours and 5 sixes. Titans after winning the toss put KKR in to bat first. Apart from Rahmanullah Gurbaz (81) no other KKR top order could contribute with a big score. Andre Russell with his 34 runs helped KKR finish with a decent score of 179. Player of the Match Joshua Little troubled the batters with his 2/25 spell in 4 overs. Gujarat had a shaky start with Wriddhiman Saha departing early but Shubhman Gill (49) and Captain Hardik Pandya (26) steered the Titans chase nicely. In the end, Vijay Shankar with David Miller (32) added 87 runs and remained unbeaten. Shankar smashed 4 sixes in 2 overs to give the Titans their win and also a place at the top.
