Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 18 runs in a low-scoring thriller in the IPL 2023.

In a low-scoring thriller, Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 18 runs. Bangalore with the help of their top-order batters, put 126 runs on the board. Virat Kohli (31) and captain Faf du Plessis (44) with a 62 runs partnership for the first wicket gave RCB a cautious start. After that, no other batter could go on to score big. Lucknow’s spinner had a good grip. LSG’s Ravi Bihsnoi, K Gautham, and Amit Mishra picked up a total of 5 wickets in 9 overs. RCB gave Lucknow 127 runs to chase. Lucknow in KL Rahul’s absence from the top due to an injury lost 4 wickets in the power play. This allowed RCB to snatch a win from Lucknow.  Lucknow panicked after Kyle Mayers wicket and was bundled out on 108 runs. KL Rahul came in to bat at Number 11.

This has made the race for the playoffs more interesting among a few teams. Lucknow had a chance to go top of the table but a loss against RCB has put them down to third place with 10 points. Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Faf du Plessis is back with an orange cap on his head. Faf with his hard-fought 44 runs in 40 balls against Lucknow Super Giants earned back the orange cap from Rajasthan Royals opener Yashaswi Jaiswal. Yashaswi Jaiswal with a stunning century overtook everyone to claim an orange cap for a day. Faf now has 466 runs in 9 innings in the IPL 2023. Yashaswi Jaiswal with 428 runs in 9 innings is 2nd. Chennai’s Devon Conway is 3rd on the list with 414 runs. Faf’s opening partner, Virat Kohli, is 4th in the race with 364 runs in 9 innings. Ruturaj Gaikwad is 5th with 354 runs.
