IPL 2023 Updated points table, Orange cap & Purple cap after Match 49 & 50, CSK vs MI & DC vs RCB
Both the hosts, CSK and DC won against the visitors on Saturday's double-header in the IPL 2023.
Delhi Capitals have stunned Royal Challengers Bangalore by 7 wickets at Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium. Capitals with a magnificent knock of Phil Salt chased down RCB’s 183 runs in 17th over. Batting first, RCB scored 182 runs in their 20 overs. Virat Kohli (55) and Mahipal Lomror (54) scored fifties to give Delhi a target of 183 runs. The Capitals got off to a flier with Phil Salt taking charge of the innings. Warner complimented him well and added 60 runs in the first 5 overs. This built the foundation for Delhi to go on and chase RCB’s total. Phil Salt scored 87 runs in 45 balls smashing 8 fours and 6 sixes in his inning. Rilee Rossouw played a magnificent supporting role with 35 runs in 22 balls.
Chennai Super Kings won against Mumbai Indians by 7 wickets. CSK had a tremendous start with the ball as they picked up 3 wickets in the first three overs. Suryakumar Yadav (26) and Nehal Wadhera added 55 runs for MI to steer them toward a decent total. Nehal Wadhera scored 64 runs in 51 balls. Player of the Match, Matheesha Pathirana stopped Mumbai Indians to just 139 with his spell of 3/15. MI’s top order failed against CSK. MI tried a new opening combination. They came in with Cameron Green (6) and Ishan Kishan (7), and Rohit Sharma (0) shifted himself to the number 3. While chasing the target, Chennai Super Kings openers started magnificently in the chase. Ruturaj Gaikwad (30) and Devon Conway (44) added 46 runs for the first wicket. After this CSK took no chances in batting and ended up winning the game in the 18th over.

Delhi with a win over RCB have moved up a place and now they are at 9th in the table with 4 wins and 8 points in their 10 games. This loss will impact RCB's chances of qualifying for playoffs hugely. RCB are 5th in the table with 10 points. CSK with an easy win over Mumbai Indians are just next to table toppers, Gujarat Titans. CSK are now 2nd in the table with 13 points in 11 games. Mumbai Indians chances look grim after a loss against CSK. They are placed 6th in the table with 5 wins and 10 points. Gujarat Titans lead the IPL 2023 points table with 14 points to their name.
IPL 2023 Updated Orange cap:
RCB captain Faf du Plessis is still leading the Orange cap race in the IPL 2023. Faf is batting in good flow and once again he played a magnificent knock to start the RCB innings. Faf du Plessis scored 45 runs in 32 balls. Faf is leading the orange cap list with 511 runs in 10 innings. Virat scored a half-century against Delhi and on-course he became the first batsman to score 7000 runs in the IPL history, he is currently in 4th place in IPL 2023's leading run-getters list with 419 runs in 10 innings. Chennai’s Devon Conway has overtaken Yashaswi Jaiswal and became number 2 in the race with 458 runs. Yashaswi Jaiswal is 3rd with 442 runs. Chennai’s Ruturaj Gaikwad is 5th on this list with 389 runs in 10 innings.
IPL 2023 Updated Purple cap:
Chennai’s Tushar Deshpande has earned back the purple cap with his 2 wickets spell against Mumbai Indians. Tushar started nicely against Mumbai’s openers and sent Cameron Green back into the hut in his first over. Tushar is now leading the purple cap race with 19 wickets in 11 games. Gujarat Titans pacer Mohammed Shami is 2nd in the list with 18 wickets. Shami’s teammate Rashid Khan is 3rd on the list with 18 wickets. Mumbai’s Piyush Chawla bowled a great spell against CSK. He is 4th in the list with 17 wickets. Punjab’s Arshdeep Singh is at 5th with 16 wickets.

On Sunday, Defending champions will face Lucknow Super Giants in the afternoon game at Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad. Gujarat Titans are running high on confidence with 7 wins in 10 games. They are currently at the top of the points table. While Lucknow Super Giants require a win. They lost a game against RCB and had to settle with only 1 point against Chennai Super Kings. Lucknow are currently 3rd in the table. In the second game of the doubleheader day, struggling Rajasthan Royals will take on out-of-form Sunrisers Hyderabad. Royals, after a good start are struggling to carry forward the momentum in this season. They have lost 4 games in the last 5 they have played. Sunrisers Hyderabad are also in the same position.
