IPL 2023 Updated points table, Orange cap & Purple cap after Match 58 & 59, SRH vs LSG & DC vs PBKS
Punjab Kings defeated Delhi Capitals, while Lucknow Super Giants defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad on Saturday's double-header in the IPL 2023.
Even after struggling in batting, Punjab Kings have managed to defeat Delhi Capitals by 31 runs comfortably. Delhi failed to chase down a target of 168 runs against Punjab at Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium. Punjab with lovely bowling spells from Harpreet Brar (4/30) and Rahul Chahar (2/16) made a great comeback after Warner’s blistering start. David Warner smashed 54 runs off 27 balls but could not gather support from the other end. Delhi after losing Warner collapsed badly and could only manage to score 136 runs. Similarly, Punjab Kings also had a poor batting performance but Prabhsimran Singh with a century helped Punjab reach 167. He constituted 103 runs in Punjab’s total of 167 runs. Nathan Ellis also chipped in with his 2/26 spell in the bowling for PBKS.
Lucknow Super Giants with superb batting performance defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 7 wickets. Batting first, Sunrisers Hyderabad after contributions from opener Anmolpreet Singh (36), and then Heinrich Klassen (47), Abdul Samad (37) in the middle gave Lucknow 183 runs. Krunal Pandya (2 wickets), Yudhvir Singh (1 wicket), and Yash Thakur (1 wicket) restricted SRH to 182. Lucknow in response had a poor start as Kyle Mayers departed early. Soon after, Prerak Mankad (64) with others anchored the Lucknow’s chase. Nicholas Pooran in the final overs smashed 44 runs in 13 balls to win the game for Lucknow. Lucknow had control in their chase after the Mayers wicket.

Punjab Kings have once again made an entry in the playoffs race with a win over Delhi Capitals. Punjab Kings with 12 points in 12 games are now placed 6th place. Delhi Capitals with another loss in the IPL 2023 are currently languishing at the bottom of the table and are out of the playoffs race. Lucknow with a win over Sunrisers Hyderabad have gone up in the top 4 and they earned crucial 2 points. Sunrisers Hyderabad are 9th in the table with another loss in their campaign. Gujarat Titans are first, Chennai Super Kings are second, Mumbai Indians are third and Lucknow Super Giants are fourth in the playoff race.
IPL 2023 Updated Orange cap:
There was no change in the orange cap race after Saturday's double-header. With Yashaswi Jaiswal’s unbeaten 98 runs inning against KKR, RCB captain Faf du Plessis has found some challenge in the orange cap race. Faf du Plessis is leading the orange cap race with 576 runs. Yashaswi Jaiswal is second chasing Faf du Plessis, with 575 runs he is number 2. Mumbai’s Suryakumar Yadav made his entry in the top 3 yesterday with a century. With 479 runs he is 3rd in the race. Gujarat Titans Shubhman Gill is 4th with 475 runs in the IPL 2023. Chennai’s Devon Conway is 5th in the race with 468 runs.
IPL 2023 Updated Purple cap:
The Purple Cap race also remains the same as it was on Friday. Gujarat Titans' spinner Rashid Khan is leading the race with 23 wickets. He picked up 4 wickets against Mumbai Indians to go on top. Yuzvendra Chahal is 2nd on the list with 21 wickets. Chahal also took 4 wickets against KKR. Mumbai’s leg spinner Piyush Chawla is 3rd on the list with 19 wickets. Fast bowlers are behind the leg spinners in the IPL 2023. Gujarat Titans pacer Mohammed Shami is 4th with 19 wickets, Chennai’s Tushar Deshpande is 5th with 19 wickets.
What's in IPL on Sunday?
The IPL 2023 is almost at its business end. Just after two weeks, Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium will host the IPL 2023 final. On Sunday afternoon, this week is all about the race for the Top 4. Rajasthan Royals after thrashing Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens will take on Royal Challengers Bangalore at Sawai Mansingh Stadium. This game is an important one for both teams. RR and RCB need a win to put themselves in a comfortable position in the Points table. Later in the evening, Chepauk will host the Chennai Super Kings' clash with Kolkata Knight Riders. Chennai Super Kings are currently second in the points table. KKR’s chances to qualify for playoffs are almost impossible.
