IPL 2023 Updated points table, Orange cap & Purple cap after Match 62 between GT & SRH

Gujarat Titans defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 34 runs to confirm a spot in the IPL 2023 playoffs.

It’s not easy to defeat Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League. They have shown some resilience since they have made their debut. Gujarat Titans have thrashed Sunrisers Hyderabad at Narendra Modi cricket stadium in Ahmedabad. Titans with a dominant bowling effort from their pacers beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 34 runs. Mohit Sharma (4/28) and Mohammed Shami (4/21) rattled the SRH batting order and restricted them out on just 154 runs. Batting first, Gujarat Titans scored 188 runs. Shubhman Gill smashed his first-ever IPL century as well. Gill with 101 runs contributed mostly to the Titans' total. Along with him, Sai Sudarshan (47) also batted nicely. Bhuvneshwar Kumar picked up 5 wickets in the innings, 4 in his last over with a runout.

Gujarat Titans' consistent run in the IPL 2023 continued against Sunrisers Hyderabad. With a convincing win over Hyderabad, they have made themselves more comfortable in the points table with 18 points in 13 games. The Titans have won 9 out of their 13 games this season. Gujarat have qualified for playoffs and also they have claimed one of the top 2 spots. Sunrisers Hyderabad have had an awful campaign this season. With only 8 points in 12 games, they are still at the bottom in 9th place. Similarly, Delhi Capitals are languishing at the bottom with only 8 points and 4 wins. Gujarat, Chennai, Mumbai, and Lucknow are the top 4 teams.

IPL 2023 Updated Orange cap:

Gujarat Titans' opener Shubman Gill with a blistering hundred against Sunrisers Hyderabad has now overtaken Yashasvi Jaiswal by just one run and currently is in 2nd place in the orange cap race. Shubman Gill scored 101 runs against Hyderabad and now has 576 runs in 13 innings. RCB captain Faf du Plessis is still the orange cap holder with 631 runs in 12 innings. Rajasthan Royals' opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal is now 3rd with just one run deficit from Shubhman Gill, Jaiswal has 575 runs in 13 innings. Chennai’s Devon Conway is 4th in the race with 498 runs in the IPL 2023. Mumbai Indians Suryakumar Yadav is 5th in the list with 479 runs.

IPL 2023 Updated Purple cap:

Gujarat Titans' pace bowler Mohammed Shami is now the purple cap holder in the IPL 2023. Shami with his 4 wicket spell against Hyderabad has earned the purple cap overtaking his teammate Rashid Khan. Both of them have 23 wickets in the season but with better economy rate (7.52), Shami is currently the purple cap holder. Rashid Khan is number 2 with 23 wickets. Rajasthan Royals' leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal with 21 wickets in 13 games is 3rd in the race. Mumbai Indians' leg-spinner Piyush Chawla is 4th in the list with 19 wickets. KKR’s Varun Chakravarthy is 5th in the race with 19 wickets.

What's in IPL on Tuesday?

This week is crucial for the teams fighting for a place in the Top 4. In pursuit of that, Lucknow Super Giants will host In-form Mumbai Indians at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. Mumbai Indians have peaked at the right time this season. Suryakumar Yadav smashed a century against Gujarat Titans in their last game, and he will be crucial in the next games as well. The slow and low wicket of Lucknow will pose a challenge in front of both teams. This will be a crucial game for Lucknow Super Giants as well. They can not afford to lose against MI at any cost. Rajasthan, Bangalore, Punjab, and now Kolkata will pray for Lucknow’s loss as they are placed 4th in the table with only 13 points. Mumbai are 3rd in the table.
