IPL 2023 Updated points table, Orange cap & Purple cap after Match 69 & 70, MI vs SRH & RCB vs GT
MI defeated SRH in the afternoon game, while GT defeated RCB in the evening game to conclude the league stage of IPL 2023.
Gujarat Titans have knocked Royal Challengers Bangalore out of IPL 2023. Shubman Gill with a magnificent century made sure RCB stay away from the playoffs round. RCB needed victory against Gujarat Titans to secure their place in the Top 4 but as always, RCB failed to win a crunch game when they needed it the most. Bangalore with Virat Kohli's century put up 197 runs on the board. Gujarat batted brilliantly with Shubman Gill's hundred and Vijay Shankar's (53) fifty helped the Titans chase down 198 runs comfortably.
Mumbai Indians thrashed Sunrisers Hyderabad in Sunday’s first game at Wankhede Stadium. Cameron Green with a magnificent century in 47 balls helped MI chase down SRH’s 201 runs target in just the 18th over. Along with Green, Mumbai captain Rohit Sharma also smashed a fifty. Rohit scored 56 runs in 37 balls. SRH had a great start to their innings with Vivrant (69) and Mayank (83) adding 140 runs for the first wicket. Then Akash Madhwal with his 4/37 spell scripted a great comeback for MI. SRH put up 200 on the board, MI chased it down in the 18th over and won the game convincingly by 8 wickets.
IPL 2023 Playoffs lineup:
The top 4 teams of the Indian Premier League have been confirmed after Sunday’s double-header. Gujarat Titans, Chennai Super Kings, Lucknow Super Giants, and Mumbai Indians have qualified for the next round in the IPL 2023. MI defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad to earn a place in knockout round. Royal Challengers Bangalore needed a win against Gujarat Titans but they failed in a yet another crunch game. Royal Challengers Bangalore have finished 5th in the table, Rajasthan Royals have finished 6th, Kolkata Knight Riders have finished 7th, Punjab Kings have finished 8th, Delhi Capitals have finished 9th and Sunrisers Hyderabad have finished at the bottom in the table.
IPL 2023 Updated Orange cap:
It’s an RCB dominance in the orange cap race with captain Faf du Plessis leading the batting chart by 50 runs to Gujarat Titans' opener Shubhman Gill. Faf is currently the orange cap holder with 730 runs. Gujarat Titans' opener Shubhman Gill is chasing both nicely and he is 2nd with 680 runs in 14 innings. Gill smashed 104 runs against RCB. Virat Kohli with two back-to-back centuries is in 3rd place with 639 runs. Faf du Plessis scored 28 runs against the Titans while Virat scored 101 runs. Rajasthan Royals' opener Yashaswi Jaiswal is 4th in the table with 625 runs. Chennai’s opening batter Devon Conway is 5th with 585 runs.
IPL 2023 Updated Purple cap:
There was a race for Purple Cap in Gujarat Titans vs Royal Challengers Bangalore among teammates. Gujarat Titans Mohammed Shami and Rashid Khan were chasing each other for the Purple cap, at the end of the day Mohammed Shami emerged victorious over Rashid. Though both have 24 wickets each, Shami holds the purple cap with a better economy rate (7.70) than Rashid Khan (7.82). Royals Yuzvendra Chahal is 3rd with 21 wickets. Mumbai Indians' Piyush Chawla is 4th with 20 wickets. Kolkata Knight Riders' Varun Chakravarthy is 5th in the table with 20 wickets in 14 games.
