IPL 2024 auction: Full list of players bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) bought a total of 6 players in the IPL 2024 auction.

Before the IPL 2024 auction, the Royal Challengers Bangalore aimed to strengthen their squad by recruiting 6 players for the upcoming season, with a specific emphasis on including 3 overseas members. To maintain some continuity, they chose to retain 17 players from the previous season, with 4 of them being international players. In a noteworthy pre-auction move, the Royal Challengers Bangalore engaged in a direct swap trade with the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

They acquired Mayank Dagar while trading Shahbaz Ahmed to the Sunrisers. Additionally, they participated in a separate deal, engaging in an all-cash trade to acquire Cameron Green from the Mumbai Indians.

With a purse of 23.25 crore, the Royal Challengers Bangalore made efficient and strategic use of their funds. They bought Alzarri Joseph, Yash Dayal, Lockie Ferguson, Tom Curran, Saurav Chuahan, Swapnil Singh.

Royal Challengers Bangalore finished 6th in IPL 2023

The Royal Challengers Bangalore concluded their campaign in the IPL 2023 season, securing the 6th position in the points table. Despite starting the season on a positive note, winning 7 of their 14 league games, RCB faced challenges that prevented them from sustaining their momentum. Their Net Run Rate (NRR) took a hit, culminating at 0.135 by the end of the season.

RCB’s skipper, Faf du Plessis, emerged as the leading run-scorer for the franchise in IPL 2023. Faf’s consistency shone through the entire season, as he smashed 8 half-centuries in 14 league games. His impressive total of 730 runs, at an average of 56.15, reflected his dominant batting form. Faf showcased an aggressive approach from ball one, maintaining a remarkable strike rate of 153.68. Despite missing out on the playoffs, he could have potentially surpassed the 800-run milestone with more matches.

On the bowling front, pacer Mohammed Siraj had a standout season, remaining in contention for the purple cap on several occasions. In the absence of Josh Hazlewood for a significant portion of the season, Siraj made a notable impact but lacked consistent support from the other end. In 14 league games, Siraj picked up an impressive tally of 19 wickets, showcasing an excellent economy rate of 7.50.
