IPL 2024 auction: CWC 2023 star Dilshan Madushanka sold to Mumbai Indians for 4.60 crores

Dilshan Madushanka remained unsold in IPL 2023 auction last year.
Sri Lankan left-arm pacer Dilshan Madushanka was disappointed in the previous IPL auction in 2023 as he went unsold and no team showed any interest in him. One year was enough time for Dilshan Madushanka to change his luck in the world’s most business-friendly T20 league, IPL. Dilshan Madushanka will be joining in Mumbai Indians for the upcoming season in IPL 2024 as they went big on the Lankan pacer.
Dilshan Madushanka had a terrific ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in India and finished as the second leading wicket-taker of the tournament with 21 wickets in 9 games. Sri Lanka had a dismal performance in the World Cup but Dilshan Madushanka was one of the bigger positives from the mega event. Madushanka impressed everyone with his wicket-taking ability and now lands up in India with a huge IPL contract.
Dilshan Madushanka sold to MI
Sri Lankan pacer Dilshan Madushanka entered the IPL 2024 auction at a base price of 50 lakhs, and he got sold to MI for a whopping price of 4.60 crores. MI and LSG both had a bidding war for Sri Lankan fast bowler. Lucknow Super Giants showed some early interest in the Sri Lankan pacer but soon they opted out. MI went aggressively as they needed one pace bowler who could use the Wankhede conditions to their benefit.
