Hello and welcome to Khel Now’s live coverage of IPL 2024 auction.
Hello everyone and welcome to Khel Now’s LIVE COVERAGE of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) auction. The event will start at 1:00 PM IST on Tuesday, 19th December, 2023. Please wait for 30 seconds for the live blog to load.
For the first time in the history of the Indian Premier League, auction is taking place away from India. Dubai was chosen as the venue for the IPL 2024 auction. A total of 333 players will go under the hammer with some big names also included in the list. A total of 77 slots are remaining with the 10 IPL franchises. Travis Head, Rachin Ravindra, Mitchell Starc, Gerald Coetzee, and Pat Cummins are the few names expected to get big amounts from the auction.
IPL 2023 auction in Kochi witnessed a huge amount being spent on English players as the heroes of England’s World T20 win, all-rounders Sam Curran and Ben Stokes were among the most expensive buys in the league. Overall 119 overseas players have been shortlisted to go under the hammer in the IPL auction while 214 Indian players will also take part in the auction. Out of these selected, 116 are capped international players while 217 are uncapped players.
Indian Premier League governing council has increased the purse amount to 100 crore INR from 95 crore and this will allow all the 10 franchises to go big in the IPL 2024 auction. It will be interesting to see whether anyone out of 333 players will breach the 18.25 crore barrier that Sam Curran received from Punjab Kings in the previous IPL auction. IPL auction will be live on Star Sports TV Network and Jio Cinema’s online platform.
