Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc entered the IPL 2024 auction at a base price of 2 crores, and he got sold to KKR for a whopping price of 24.75 crores. There was a bidding war for Australian pacer between KKR and GT. He overtook his Australian bowling partner Pat Cummins and became the most expensive player in history of IPL.

IPL journey of Mitchell Starc has been a tale of resilience and intermittent brilliance. Having joined Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2014, his impact was immediately felt with two spectacular diving catches against Kings XI Punjab. However, the season was not without its controversies, marked by a heated altercation with Kieron Pollard, resulting in fines and a charge under IPL’s code of conduct.
In 2015, he faced a delayed start due to a knee injury, but upon his return, he led Bangalore’s bowling charge, Unfortunately, the following year saw him miss the IPL due to a foot fracture. Despite a high-profile purchase by Kolkata Knight Riders in 2018, he never took the field due to a tibial bone stress injury.
The 2019 season brought contractual complexities, with Kolkata releasing him ahead of the ICC Cricket World Cup. Starc pulled out from the 2022 IPL season, citing “bubble fatigue.” He has taken a total of 34 wickets in 27 matches.
