IPL 2024 auction: No bid from CSK as GT buy Shahrukh Khan for 7.4 crores

Shahrukh Khan was part of Punjab Kings from IPL 2021 to IPL 2023.

Tamil Nadu All-rounder Shahrukh Khan has become one of the most exciting prospects to look for in IPL 2024. Shahrukh Khan is considered as one of the most talented finishers in domestic T20 cricket and GT have decided to unleash himself in the IPL as a designated finisher role in their camp. Shahrukh will be beginning a new chapter in his cricket career as he gets a new life in Indian Premier League. 

Punjab Kings released Shahrukh Khan after a three IPL seasons. Shahrukh made his IPL debut with Punjab Kings in IPL 2021 and represented the franchise in 33 games. He has been a wonderful player for Tamil Nadu in Indian domestic cricket and has played a few magnificent match-winning knocks for his state in Indian domestic cricket, especially in Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He will be aiming at international call-ups for sure. 

Shahrukh Khan sold to GT

Indian batter Shahrukh Khan entered the IPL 2024 auction at a base price of 40 lakhs, and he got sold to GT for a whopping price of 7.40 crores. PBKS and GT had a bidding war for Shahrukh Khan. Chennai placed no bid on Shahrukh Khan which was unexpected in the IPL Auction. Punjab Kings tried hard to get back Shahrukh Khan in their camp but with a huge purse remaining Gujarat Titans came out as winner for the all-rounder.

Shahrukh Khan made his IPL debut in the IPL 2021 for Punjab Kings against Rajasthan Royals at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Shahrukh scored 6 runs in 4 balls in his debut innings with only one boundary. Later on, he went on to play 33 games for Punjab Kings in IPL and has scored 426 runs. Shahrukh’s journey in IPL has been below average as he failed to meet the expectation and had only a few good innings under his name. 

Shahrukh Khan had a decent season with Punjab Kings in IPL 2023 and scored 156 runs in 14 games. His highest score in the previous season was an unbeaten 41 against Rajasthan Royals. Shahrukh Khan was handed his IPL cap by Chris Gayle on debut in 2021. Shahrukh recently had a dismal Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy with Tamil Nadu and could only manage to score 63 runs in 5 innings for his side. He has huge expectations to deal with.
