IPL 2024: B R Sharath replaces injured Robin Minz in Gujarat Titans squad

B R Sharath was acquired for his base price of Rs 20 lakhs by the Gujarat Titans.
With the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 set to begin on Friday, the Gujarat Titans have roped in wicket-keeper batter B R Sharath as a replacement for injured Robin Minz. The replacement was announced through a media release on official IPL website on March 22.
Sharath has represented Karnataka in the Indian domestic circuit. The wicket-keeper batter has so far featured in 28 T20s and played 20 first-class games, along with 43 List A matches. The young lad has 328 runs to his name in T20 cricket. He will join IPL 2022 champions GT for his base price of Rs 20 lakh.
“Gujarat Titans (GT) added B R Sharath to their squad as replacement for the injured Robin Minz for the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024,” IPL statement said.
Why Robin Minz is not taking part in IPL 2024?
The young star Minz was acquired by GT for Rs 3.60 crore at the cash-rich league 2023 mini-auction. GT had to battle it out with the Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, and Sunrisers Hyderabad before winning the bid for Minz. The Jharkhand-born cricketer was all set to become the first tribal player to feature in the IPL tournament.
The 21-year-old Minz suffered a bike accident earlier this month. His father told PTI that the injuries were not serious as he sustained minor bruises. It is understood that the Gujarat-based franchise has decided not to take any risk and has acquired a replacement.
How many matches will GT play in the first phase of IPL 2024?
IPL 2023 runners-up GT will kick-off their campaign against five-time champions Mumbai Indians at the Narendra Modi Stadium on March 24. GT will then face defending champions Chennai Super Kings at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium on March 26.
The Gujarat side will play their second home match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 31. The Gujarat-based franchise will take on Punjab Kings on April 4 in Ahmedabad in their last match of the first phase of IPL 2024.
Gujarat Titans updated IPL 2024 squad:
