IPL 2024: Cameron Green reveals when he got to know about getting traded from MI to RCB

Cameron Green was traded from MI to RCB in an all-cash deal of 17.50 crores.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) star overseas batter Cameron Green has had a decent start to his ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. In three matches of the ongoing season, Green has so far contributed 54 runs with the bat and scalped two wickets with the ball for RCB.

The Australian all-rounder joined the Bengaluru franchise in a massive trade deal from five-time champions the Mumbai Indians (MI) before the IPL 2024 mini-auction so that Mumbai can fit former Gujarat Titans skipper Hardik Pandya into their squad. For attaining Green’s services, Bengaluru paid a whopping price of Rs 17.5 crores to Mumbai-based franchise.

After acquiring Green, RCB Director of Cricket Mo Babat explained the franchise’s call. Babat said that the right-arm batter, Green, is a fantastic player, and it would strengthen the middle order of the side.

In RCB’s recent match against Kolkata Knight Riders, Green stitched together a valuable partnership with RCB opener Virat Kohli, scoring 33 runs off just 21 balls. This knock helped RCB post a competitive total of 182 runs.

Following RCB’s recent clash against KKR, Cameron Green during an interaction was asked at what point of time he got to know he is bring traded from MI to RCB in an all-cash deal. To which, Green explained he got to know about it at very last moment before the retention window closed.

“Yes, ofcourse, now I’m very excited. Found out at the last very minute when the deadline of retention was happening. That was a lots of things happening. At that time i wasn’t too sure and had a First Class game for Western Australia (WA) on the next day, so i just wanted to go to sleep really and i was getting so many calls back and forth about all was happening. It was a very hectic few hours. Obviously very happy with how it turned out.” Green told KhelNow during an interaction.

Green was bought by MI at the IPL 2023 auction for Rs. 17.5 crores. During his stint with MI, he played 16 matches and scored 452 runs including a hundred and two fifties. He also scalped six wickets with the ball.
