IPL 2024: Massive boost for CSK as Matheesha Pathirana flies to India to join Chennai camp

Matheesha Pathirana missed CSK’s opening game of IPL 2024 against RCB on Friday.
After winning the IPL 2024 opening match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru by six wickets, defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have received huge boost to their bowling department as their ace pacer, Matheesha Pathirana is all set to join the cam. Earlier, it was reported that the right-arm pacer might miss the initial phase of IPL 2024.
Earlier, the young speedster Pathirana sustained a hamstring injury during Sri Lanka’s ODI series against Bangladesh. The CSK pacer had a Grade 1 hamstring tear, after which he missed the third game of the series.
It is understood that Pathirana has gotten the green signal from the Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC). The pacer’s manager also cleared all rumors regarding Pathirana injury and participation in the ongoing season of IPL and shared an update on his official ‘X’ account.
“The answer to ‘Where’s Pathirana’. He is fit and ready to throw Thunder balls. Be ready. Finally a together with the Legend,” Kalugalage wrote on Friday, March 22.
Pathirana also posted a photo on his Instagram handle showing himself in a flight on his way to India and join CSK camp for remainder of the season.

Matheesha Pathirana played a huge rule in IPL 2023 title triumph for CSK
The 21-year-old CSK pacer played an important part for the five-time champions CSK in their road to glory in IPL 2023. In 12 matches, Pathirana picked up 19 wickets at an economy rate of 8. The SL pacer finished as the third-highest wicket-taker for CSK after Tushar Deshpande (21) and Ravindra Jadeja (20) last year.
Former CSK skipper MS Dhoni showed faith in him and used him in death overs in the 2023 edition, and Pathirana didn’t let his captain down. With his pinpoint yorkers and outfoxing batters with his clever change of pace, he bowled with a lot of accuracy for CSK in death overs.
