Daryl Mitchell scored a crucial 30 for CSK against PBKS in Dharamsala.

The defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have done well in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 so far. After 11 games, they have 12 points and are placed third on the points table with a NRR of +0.700. After losing to Punjab Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium last week, they equalled the scoreline by beating the same opponents in Dharamsala on Sunday afternoon.

It was a dominating performance from CSK, and they didn’t let PBKS get away at any point in the game. There were many brilliant moments in the game for the fans, but one moment that has gone viral on social media occurred during the pre-match practice session. It happened when the Kiwi all-rounder, Daryl Mitchell, was practicing his pull shot near the boundary line.

IPL 2024: Daryl Mitchell gifts a fan his gloves after breaking his iPhone

Mitchell is one of the humble personalities on the cricket field, and he is very cool off the field as well. One of the biggest examples everyone saw was when he broke an iPhone of one of the fans during his batting practice ahead of the PBKS vs CSK on Sunday. He was practicing the pull shot with a safety net placed near the boundary line. However, the net was short, and one of his pull shots went over it and hit a fan.

The ball hit him hard, and it also damaged his phone as his back glass got broken. After understanding the situation quickly, Mitchell raised his hand in apology and even gifted that fan his gloves. That fan posted the whole video clip on the social media platform, and it went viral pretty quickly.

Daryl Mitchell even made an important contribution with his 19-ball 30 in the match. He hit two fours and one six and added an important 57-run partnership for the second wicket with skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad (32 off 21). CSK finished the innings at 167/6 and later restricted PBKS to 139/9 to win the game by 28 runs. The defending champions will play their next match on May 10 against Gujarat Titans.
