MS Dhoni smashed an unbeaten 37 runs off 16 balls against DC in the IPL 2024 season.

The legendary Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batter MS Dhoni played an unbeaten blistering knock of 37 runs against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam, in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 tournament on March 31.

In the ongoing IPL 2024, Dhoni didn’t get to bat in CSK’s first two matches against Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Titans. However, during CSK’s third game while chasing 192 against Capitals, Dhoni stepped out to bat for his team for the very first time in the tournament.

The game was well outside reach by the time Dhoni walked in to bat at No. 8. But keeping the Net Run Rate (NRR) factor in mind, Dhoni hammered four boundaries and three sixes with an explosive strike rate of over 230 during his stay at the crease.

Despite CSK losing their first game of the season, wicket-keeper batter Dhoni stole the show with his explosive knock. Soon after the match, the former Super Kings skipper was seen talking to DC’s Kuldeep Yadav, Rishabh Pant, and Khaleel Ahmed before sharing a heartwarming moment with the Vizag ground staff.

Following the match, Dhoni was approached by some Vizag ground staff before he took a photo with them. The heartwarming gesture went viral on social media, but one concerning moment for the CSK team and Dhoni’s fans is that the 42-year-old batter was seen in discomfort as he limped towards the Super Kings’ dressing room.

Here is the video:

It may raise a significant concern, given that it is just the start of the tournament, but Dhoni will get a rest period of four days before CSK play their next game in the IPL 2024 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 5 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

It is to be noted that there has been no official statement released by the CSK franchise regarding Dhoni’s injury or his availability for the rest of the tournament.
