IPL 2024: KKR vs RR match on April 17 likely to be rescheduled - Reports

The upcoming high-voltage clash between the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 might be rescheduled due to logistical challenges faced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), according to reports. The much-anticipated clash between the two franchises is scheduled to be played on April 17 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Kolkata are currently placed at top of the IPL 2024 points table after winning both of their opening fixtures in the ongoing tournament. They hammered Sunrisers Hyderabad at home before extending their winning streak against arch-rivals Royal Challengers Bengaluru at their den by crushing them for the sixth consecutive year since 2015.
KKR will face Delhi Capitals in their next clash at the Dr. YSR ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Vishakapatnam on April 3.
On the other hand, in-form Rajasthan ate placed third in the IPL 2024 standings. The Royals have also won their first two matches. They thrashed the Lucknow Super Giants and Delhi Capitals at home. RR will be playing their next game against five-time champions Mumbai Indians at the iconic Wankhede Stadium on April 1.
KKR vs RR match on April 17 might relocate to a different city
According to the latest report in Cricbuzz, the KKR vs RR game on April 17 might be relocated to a different city or changes of dates will be made owing to the holy Ram Navami festival. The report added that the BCCI is not sure if they can provide full security for the high-voltage clash at the Eden Gardens.
However, with the 2024 Lok Sabha elections beginning from April 19 across the whole country, it is understood that the Indian cricketing board might postpone the upcoming KKR vs RR game.
“The discussions are on with the police authorities and we will take a decision soon,” a top IPL official told Cricbuzz
The report further explained that the BCCI and the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) are in touch with the Kolkata police. While the BCCI is yet to announce any decision regarding the changes ahead of the crucial KKR vs RR match in IPL 2024, However, both the franchise and the broadcasters have been made aware of the situation and the possibilities.
