KL Rahul will lead Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL 2024.

KL Rahul, who is undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, will report to his Indian Premier League (IPL) team, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in two or three days.

Rahul had played in the first test against England, but later missed the remainder of the series as he suffered from a quadriceps strain during the first test in Hyderabad. Rahul traveled to London to get medical advice regarding his injury, and upon his return to India, he reported to NCA for further rehab and recovery process.

Nonetheless, the LSG captain has been cleared to participate in the IPL, according to a report published by the news agency PTI. The report also stated that Rahul has been advised to stay away from wicket-keeping for the first few games of the IPL but that he can pick it back up later.

Rahul set to keep wickets and bat in middle order to make a bid for Indian team in T20 World Cup 2024

The NCA in Bengaluru granted the LSG captain a fitness certificate, following which, he will report to his IPL franchise in next few days. LSG will begin their IPL 2024 campaign against Rajasthan Royals on Sunday, 24th March.

It is said that Rahul has been urged by the BCCI medical experts to play as a specialist batsman and avoid keeping wickets in the early part of the competition.

However, a Cricbuzz report has stated that the LSG captain is set to bat in the middle order instead of opening the innings and will also keep wickets. Rahul will be using the IPL to make a bid for a comeback in the Indian T20I side ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024.

“He will be keeping wickets from the first game itself to stake his claim in the India team for the Twenty20 World Cup,” a source told Cricbuzz.

Rahul was expected to leave for Lucknow on 20th March, but given the pre-IPL Captains Conclave in Chennai on March 21, he may join his team a day later.
