Mayank Yadav just bowled one over during LSG vs GT clash on Sunday.

On Sunday, April 7, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) scripted history as they registered their first ever win over the team who made their debut along with them in 2022, Gujarat Titans (GT).

Everything went on Lucknow’s side in the game except one thing where their express fast bowler Mayank Yadav, who made headlines during last two games, got injured and left the field mid way in Lucknow tonight.

The Super Giants pacer Mayank has taken the ongoing IPL 2024 by storm with his fiery pace and accurate bowling. The right-arm pacer has picked up six wickets in just three outings with a mind-blowing economy of six in the ongoing IPL 2024.

Meanwhile, during the match against Shubman Gill’s GT, Mayank just bowled one over in the game and conceded 13 runs. However, during his over, Mayank, who generally bowls over 145 kph consistently, was seen bowling his full over around 140 kph. Soon after the over was completed, Mayank went off the field along with LSG physio, and he didn’t came back to the field for the rest of the match.

He seems OK: Krunal Pandya on Mayank Yadav’s injury

However, following LSG’s win over GT on Sunday, all-rounder Krunal Pandya, who picked three wickets in the game, provided update on Mayank Yadav’s injury. Krunal added that he had a quick talk with Mayank and it seems like he is ok. However, Krunal stressed that he doesn’t know what exactly happened to the speedster.

[on Mayank Yadav] I don’t know what is happening, but I had a couple of seconds with him, he seems OK. He is a bright prospect, bowled gun in the nets, last year missed out. Good head on his shoulders and unbelievable prospect and interesting to see how he will pan out in his career,” Krunal Pandya said during post match presentation.

Like to know the batters’ strengths and weaknesses: Krunal Pandya after picking a three-wicket haul against GT

In the second innings, Krunal’s twin blows in the ninth over changed the momentum towards the hosts as he pulled things back after crucial 54-run opening stand from opposition batters Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan.

He first ended Sudharsan’s entertaining knock as the batter top-edged one to Bishnoi at deep mid-wicket, and then three balls later, he accounted for BR Sharath as GT slumped to 61 for 4. The left-arm spinner continued to trouble GT as Darshan Nalkande became his next victim, caught by Thakur at short-fine leg as he went for a big shot.

Pandya registered the match figures of 3/11 in his quota of four overs. Earlier, with the bat, the all-rounder managed to score two runs.

“When I went in, I played a couple of balls, I had a chat with Pooran as well, the wicket was very good. We felt that we were 10-15 short but at the end of the day, that’s what we got so we had to defend. I like to know the batters’ strengths and weaknesses, try to bowl according to it. It comes off some days and it doesn’t some days. I back my strengths and stuck to my plans, one of those days I executed what I wanted, tonight it came off. It feels great to defend this score, the way we have defended even last year,” Krunal Pandya said.

Brief Scores: Lucknow Super Giants 163 for 5 in 20 overs (Marcus Stoinis 58, KL Rahul 33; Darshan Nalkande 2-21, Umesh Yadav 2-22) beat Gujarat Titans (Sai Sudarshan 31, Rahul Tewatia 30; Yash Thakur 5-30, Krunal Pandya 3-11) by 33 runs.
