Mayank Yadav walked off the field during LSG v GT match in Lucknow.

Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) exciting pace bowler Mayank Yadav gave the franchise and his admirers a huge scare during his team’s win over Gujarat Titans in their recent IPL 2024 fixture, in Lucknow on Sunday.

Initially, Marcus Stoinis’ half-century (58) helped LSG reach 163/5 in 20 overs. Meanwhile, Darshan Nalkande and Umesh Yadav claimed two wickets each for GT. Defending a 164-run total, LSG bowled GT out for 130 in 18.5 overs, with Yash Thakur taking five wickets. Meanwhile, Krunal Pandya claimed three wickets for the KL Rahul-led team.

However, during the LSG bowling, Mayank Yadav, who has been impressive in the tournament so far, left the field after bowling just one over. Yadav departed in the ninth over of the run chase, due to a side strain.

Mayank Yadav made his IPL debut for LSG against Punjab Kings and left everyone with their jaws on the ground with his speed. He clocked the fastest of 155.8 kph against PBKS and regularly bowled over 150 kph during his 24-ball spell. He finished with three wickets to his name and was the Player of the Match.

He repeated the feat against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), as he claimed 3 cheap wickets including the one of Glenn Maxwell and a brilliant clean bowled of Cameron Green. In this course, he also bowled the fastest ball this IPL 2024 clocking at 156.7 kph. He won his second straight Player of the Match award for this performance.

“We are managing his workload”- LSG CEO gives update on Mayank Yadav

What impressed one and all was Mayank Yadav’s command of his line and length and his control was compared to that of Umran Malik. The J&K pacer has been impressive with his speed in the last few IPL seasons and has even played for India in T20Is and ODIs, but his problem with line and length has led to him not being able to cement his place.

Meanwhile, amidst concerns about the newest Indian pace sensation Mayank Yadav due to his injury, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) CEO Colonel Vinod Bisht has given an update.

As per IANS, Col. Bisht said: “Mayank felt soreness in lower abdominal area and as a precaution we are managing his work load over the next week. We hope to see him soon on the field.”

LSG will face Delhi Capitals in Lucknow on April 12 in their next match.
