IPL 2024: Murali Kartik slammed for calling Yash Dayal 'trash' on air

Yash Dayal took 1/23 in RCB v PBKS match in Bengaluru.
Former India cricketer-turned-commentator Murali Kartik came in for some criticism online after he called Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) pacer ‘trash’ on air. This happened in the 6th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 between RCB and Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Bengaluru on March 25, 2024.
Yash Dayal has performed admirably for RCB in the ongoing IPL. The quick bowler has been blazing with the new ball, making it talk. He has swung the new ball well and caused significant problems for the opponents in his two appearances.
Dayal in the ongoing match against the struggling PBKS openers. He made seasoned hitters Shikhar Dhawan and Jonny Bairstow appear inexperienced with his swing bowling. The left-arm pacer exuded brilliance at Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium, moving the ball both ways.
“Somebody’s trash…”- Murali Kartik trolled online for his comment on Yash Dayal
In a ground like M Chinnaswamy, where runs flow like a Ferrari car, the pacer restricted the run flow like cops. He ensured the PBKS didn’t get off to a flier. Dayal finished with figures of 1/23 in his 4 overs, taking the wicket of Sam Curran for 23 runs.
As Yash Dayal delivered a brilliant spell of swing balling early on, commentator Murali Karthik made a stunning remark about the fast bowler. He claimed that a quick bowler is a jewel for RCB but trash for someone else.
He stated: “Somebody’s trash is somebody else’s treasure”.
Kartik’s comment referred to Yash Dayal’s stint with Gujarat Titans last year and he had a torrid season with the ball last year. He gained infamy for getting hit for 5 sixes by Rinku Singh in a match between GT and KKR and had to take a break mid-season to regain composure.
His words left cricket fans unhappy and stated it was disrespectful to the uncapped Indian pacer.
