Mayank Yadav has been out action since sustaining an abdominal injury on April 7.
Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) pace sensation Mayank Yadav captured the imagination of every cricket fan in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. In his first three matches, Mayank has picked 6 wickets for LSG with a best of 3/14. However, what has impressed everyone is that he is bowling consistently above 150 kph.
Not only that, Mayank had managed to bowl at a very good line and length to be more effective with his pace. He had an excellent start to his IPL career with three-for against both Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Mayank has been out since April 7 due to “soreness in the lower abdominal area.”
This happened to him on April 7 and Mayank has missed the last three games for his team due to the same injury.
He’s coming along very nicely, very happy with his progression: Morne Morkel on Mayank Yadav
Ahead of their away match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Tuesday, April 23, LSG bowling coach Morne Morkel has given an update about the fitness and return date of Mayank Yadav. He said that Mayank will remain in Lucknow to complete his rehab and will most likely return to action against Rajasthan Royals at home on April 27.
“He stayed behind in Lucknow just to give him that extra two or three days without travelling. He is with (assistant coach) Lance Klusener and the rest of the guys in Lucknow, training and getting ready. So I think, anything from the next game onwards, we’ll look to bring him back in.
He’s coming along very nicely. We’re very happy with his progression. He started bowling three-four days ago, so for him, it’s just a matter now, of course of him, the expectation is greater, (given) that he bowls every ball at 150 kmph It’s just to really get his body and his mind in that sort of state where he’s confident, running and bowling all four overs at a tight pace,” Morne Morkel was quoted as saying by PTI.
CSK will be looking to avenge their loss to LSG in Lucknow a few days ago when the two clash in Chennai on Tuesday.
