IPL 2024: Mitchell Marsh ruled out of remainder of the tournament in a huge blow to DC

Mitchell Marsh suffered a partial tear in his right hamstring and will not feature in the remainder of IPL 2024.
After the first half of the group stage in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, the picture is getting clear of which teams are likely to finish in the top four. Though nothing can be said now and many scenarios are possible, the teams sitting at the bottom need to pull up their socks. Delhi Capitals (DC) are one such team that needs to step up as they are in a bad situation.
However, it looks like the situation is totally against them. From non-performance to injuries to their key players, DC are already going through a lot. Now, they have to face another massive blow as star Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has been ruled out of the remainder of the IPL 2024.
Mitchell Marsh out of remainder of IPL 2024
The Australian all-rounder entered the IPL 2024 with brilliant international form. But he couldn’t take the momentum and didn’t have good performance. He played the first four games for DC and scored 61 runs with the bat, including a best of 23. With the ball, he took one wicket while bowling eight overs at an economy rate of 12.87. After that, he missed a few matches. His last game was against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens on April 3.
However, he flew back to Australia to begin his recovery process from injury last week. Now it has been reported that Marsh won’t be returning to India and join his IPL team DC. According to a report in ESPNCricinfo, Marsh has suffered partial tear in his right hamstring. He will stay in Australia to recover from his injury ahead of the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024, which will be played in the USA and West Indies. Notably, Marsh is set to lead Australia in the mega event.
That is why Cricket Australia (CA) took the precautionary decision. Earlier, he was likely to join the team, but now it has been learnt that he won’t be available. However, DC gave a chance to Jake Fraser McGurk at No. 3, and he has been their best batter since then. Jake has scored 140 runs in three innings at a strike rate of 222.22. The franchise hasn’t announced Marsh’s replacement yet, but if needed, they might do it soon.
