SRH defeated RR by 36 runs in Qualifier 2 to make it to the IPL 2024 finals.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) pace duo of Trent Boult and Avesh Khan scalped three wickets each as they restricted Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to 175/9 in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 Qualifier 2 in Chennai on May 24.

Apart from Boult (3/45) and Avesh (3/27), pacer Sandeep Sharma also claimed two wickets after Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan elected to bowl first.

For Hyderabad, Heinrich Klaasen scored a 34-ball 50, whereas Travis Head (34) and Rahul Tripathi (37) also contributed with the bat. Shahbaz Ahmed’s run-a-ball 18 provided a push in the end as SRH went past the 170-run mark.

While chasing 176, Rajasthan lost their first wicket to Tom Kohler-Cadmore (10) in the fourth over of the second innings.

However, Yashasvi Jaiswal played a blistering knock of 42 runs before departing in the eighth over. Skipper Sanju Samson (10) also departed in the very next over as the Royals crumbled to 73/3 at the end of first 10 overs.

In the middle-overs, Hyderabad spinners took three more wickets as the Royals reached 93/6 in 14 overs. Towards the end, Dhruv Jurel’s unbeaten 35-ball 56 went in vain as Hyderabad won the match by 36 runs and reached the grand finale.

Pat Cummins-led side will play the IPL 2024 final against two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders on May 26. It is to be noted that KKR defeated SRH in the Qualifier 1 of the ongoing season.
