IPL 2024: Nitish Rana joins KKR camp in a big boost for the side

Nitish Rana scored nine for KKR in their first match of IPL 2024.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) received a huge boost in their ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 campaign after vice-captain Nitish Rana joined the camp. KKR have so far played four games and won three, and they are nicely placed at the second spot in the points table.

Nitish Rana had played in KKR’s opening game at Eden Gardens against Sunrisers Hyderabad but has been out of action since then. Since then, he has missed KKR’s wins against RCB and DC and the only loss thus far against CSK in Chennai.

The KKR vice-captain struggled on the field during the team’s opening IPL 2024 encounter against SRH at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata due to an injury. Rana injured his hand while fielding in the second innings and left the field.

Rana scored nine runs in eleven balls against Hyderabad before his dismissal. Since then, he has not been named to KKR’s playing XI in any of the following matches.

Nitish Rana had suffered a fractured finger leading to his absence from KKR XI

There was no official explanation given by the KKR franchise for Nitish Rana’s absence from the playing combination. However, now it has been learnt by Khel Now why Nitish Rana has not been in the picture in IPL 2024 since KKR’s opening match against SRH. A source close to developments has confirmed Khel Now in anonymity that the KKR vice-captain had fractured his finger and now has joined the camp back.

“Nitish Rana had fractured his finger. He joined KKR camp in Kolkata yesterday, 9th April,” a source close to developments told Khel Now.

The KKR squad made a remarkable recovery in the current season following a setback in the previous season, and they welcomed back skipper Shreyas Iyer for the IPL 2024. They will next be seen in action on Sunday, April 14 when they face off against Lucknow Super Giants in Kolkata.
