IPL 2024: updated points table after match 6 RCB vs PBKS

RCB registered their maiden win in the IPL 2024 defeating PBKS by 4 wickets.

Thanks to a brilliant knock by Virat Kohli and an astonishing finish by Dinesh Karthik, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) at home in Chinnaswamy Stadium on March 25, 2024, in IPL 2024.

RCB captain Faf du Plessis had won the toss and chosen to bowl first. PBKS managed to make 176/6 in 20 overs. Shikhar Dhawan made 45, while Jitesh Sharma (27), Shashank Singh (21* in 8), and Prabhsimran Singh (25) made valuable contributions as well.

Virat Kohli started well, hitting four boundaries in RCB’s first over itself against Sam Curran. He raced off to his 51st IPL fifty in just 31 balls and in doing so, hit his 100th T20 fifty as well. He fell for 77 runs in 49 balls with 11 fours and 2 sixes to his name.

PBKS bowlers brought their team back in the game not only with this wicket but also because Anuj Rawat was dismissed for 11 runs. In the end, it all came down to experienced Dinesh Karthik and impact-sub Mahipal Lomror.

Lomror smashed 2 fours and 1 six in his 8-ball 17* cameo, but it was Karthik, who made 28* in 10 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes as RCB romped home in the last over and won by 4 wickets.

IPL 2024: Updated points table

RCB registered their first points in the IPL 2024 and now have 1 win and 1 loss from 2 matches and 2 points with an NRR of -0.180. They are placed at 6th position on the points table. On the other hand, Punjab Kings are placed 5th spot with 2 points and an NRR of 0.025.

RR, CSK, KKR, and GT have played only one match thus far and won them with RR at the top of the points table with an NRR of 1.000.

What’s next in IPL 2024?

March 26 will see Chennai Super Kings clashing with Gujarat Titans in Chepauk. Then on March 27, Sunrisers Hyderabad will play their first home game, hosting Mumbai Indians. RR will then host DC on March 28 and RCB will clash with KKR in Bengaluru on March 29, Friday.
