IPL 2024 updated points table, Orange Cap & Purple Cap after match 16 DC vs KKR

KKR hammered DC by 106 runs in the match 16 of IPL 2024.

In match No. 16 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Kolkata batters Sunil Narine (85), Angkrish Raghuvanshi (54), Andre Russell (41) and Rinku Singh (26) unleashed their beast mode as they guided visitors to 272/7 at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam on April 2.

Electing to bat first on a flat batting track, KKR produced a stunning batting display as they hammered 22 fours and 18 sixes en route to their total of 272/7 in 20 overs, which is also the second highest IPL score after Sunrisers Hyderabad’s (277).

While chasing 273 runs, hosts Delhi lost four wickets: Warner (18), Prithvi Shaw (10), Mitchell Marsh (0), and Abhishek Porel (0) inside first five overs. At the end of the powerplay, DC were at 51/4.

However, Capitals’ skipper Rishabh Pant and Tristan Stubbs stitched a crucial partnership of 93 runs before Kolkata’s Varun Chakravarthy picked the wicket of Pant, who scored 55 runs. In the end Stubbs played a fighting knock of 54 runs as hosts Delhi suffered a big defeat of 106 runs at the hands of KKR.

After hammering Rishabh Pant-led DC by over 100 runs, KKR dethroned Rajasthan Royals as they moved to top with six points and NRR of 2.158. After a big defeat, Delhi Capitals slipped to ninth position with a NRR of -1.347.

Following KKR’s win, Rajasthan Royals slipped to second spot with six points and NRR of +1.249 in the IPL 2024 standings. Defending champions Chennai Super Kings, Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans are slotted at third, fourth and fifth positions, respectively in the 2024 points table with four points each.

Sunrisers Hyderabad, Punjab Kings, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who have two points each, are slotted at sixth, seventh and eighth positions respectively. MI are yet to open their account and are languishing at bottom of the table.

IPL 2024: Most Runs (Orange Cap)

After a high-scoring encounter in match No. 16 in the IPL 2024, DC opener David Warner, who scored 18 runs, jumped to fifth position with 148 runs. DC skipper Rishabh Pant, who smashed a fighting fifty jumped to fourth spot with 152 runs.

Meanwhile, RCB’s Virat Kohli is at the top spot with 203 runs on the Orange Cap leaderboard. RR’s star batter Riyan Parag is slotted at second spot with 181 runs. SRH wicket-keeper batter Heinrich Klaasen is at third spot with 167 runs to his name.

IPL 2024: Most Wickets (Purple Cap)

After the end of match No. 16, DC pacer Khaleel Ahmed, who bagged one wicket against KKR, remained at fifth spot with six wickets to his name. CSK’s left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman is at the top spot with seven wickets in the Purple Cap leaderboard.

LSG’s young pacer Mayank Yadav sits at the second spot with six wickets to his name. Meanwhile, RR’s wily leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal and GT’s veteran pacer Mohit Sharma are at third and fourth spots respectively with six wickets each.
