RCB kept their hopes alive of reaching the IPL 2024 playoffs after defeating GT.

It was a stunning display from the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) bowlers as they restricted last year’s runners-up the Gujarat Titans (GT) for a below-par total of 147 in the match No. 52 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at the M. Chinnaswamy stadium on May 4.

After opting to bowl first, Bengaluru bowlers picked wickets at regular intervals before Gujarat batters M Shahrukh Khan (37) and hard-hitter David Miller (30) stitched a 61-run stand. Soon after their dismissals, visitors never looked comfortable as they were all out for 147. For RCB, Yash Dayal (2/21), Vijaykumar Vyshak (2/23), and Mohammed Siraj (2/29) picked up two wickets each.

While chasing 148, Bengaluru openers Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis stitched a fiery opening stand of 35-ball 92. However, there was a big-collapse as hosts lost six batters, skipper du Plessis (64), Will Jacks (1), Rajat Patidar (2), Glenn Maxwell (4) and Cameron Green (1) and Kohli (42), as the they crumbled to 117/6 after an impressive opening stand.

However, wicket-keeper batter Dinesh Karthik took responsibility on his shoulders as he scored 18* runs and guided the hosts to a four-wicket win. The Titans displayed a tremendous effort with the ball as pacer Joshua Little picked up a four-wicket haul while leg-spinner Noor Ahmad scalped two wickets. With this win, Bengaluru kept their hopes alive for reaching the IPL 2024 playoffs.
