IPL 2024 updated points table, Orange Cap & Purple cap after match 57, SRH vs RR

SRH crushed LSG by 10 wickets in match No. 57 of the IPL 2024 in Hyderabad.

Sunrisers Hyderabad’s (SRH) stunning bowling effort restricted Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) to just 165/4 in 20 overs in match no. 57 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. While chasing, Hyderabad batters produced a master class as they chased the target in just 9.4 overs.

After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Lucknow top-order batters failed miserably as they lost wickets at regular intervals and with some stunning fielding from the hosts. However, Nicholas Pooran (55 not out off 30 balls) and Ayush Badoni (48 not out off 25 balls) stitched crucial partnership of 95 runs in 55 balls for the fifth wicket. For SRH, Bhuvneshwar Kumar took two wickets while skipper Pat Cummins picked one wicket.

While chasing 166, Hyderabad openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma went bonkers against the Lucknow bowling line-up. The duo smashed a match-winning partnership of 167 runs in just 58 deliveries. Head smashed a blistering 30-ball 89* while Abhishek hammered an unbeaten 75 in just 28 balls. The hosts won the one-sided contest by 10 wickets.

Following SRH’s win, five-time champions Mumbai Indians are officially out of the IPL 2024 playoffs race.

IPL 2024 Updated Points Table:

Following a crucial victory in Hyderabad, the Pat Cummins-led SRH jumped to third place with 14 points and an NRR of 0.406. This victory has strengthened their position to reach the IPL 2024 playoffs.

After suffering a defeat, KL Rahul-led Lucknow dropped at the sixth position with 12 points and a negative NRR of -0.769. This loss has dented their hope of reaching the playoffs.

Meanwhile, the Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals are placed at the first and second spots with 16 points each. Both franchises are just one win away from reaching the playoffs. 

Following SRH’s victory, defending champions Chennai Super Kings slipped down to fourth place with 12 points and an NRR of 0.700. The Delhi Capitals moved up to the fifth position with 12.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Punjab Kings, Mumbai Indians, and Gujarat Titans are the bottom four teams in the IPL 2024 standings. All four franchises have eight points after the end of match No. 57.

IPL 2024: Most Runs (Orange Cap)

After the end of Match No. 57, there is just one change in the IPL 2024 Orange Cap Leaderboard. After a match-winning knock of 89* runs against Lucknow, Hyderabad opener Travis Head jumped to third place with 533 runs to his name. 

Meanwhile, Bengaluru opener Virat Kohli continues to stay at the top with 542 runs. Following Head’s blistering innings, Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson slipped down to fourth spot with 471 runs. Kolkata Knight Riders’ Sunil Narine completes the list of top five with 461 runs to his name.

IPL 2024: Most Wickets (Purple Cap)

After the end of SRH vs LSG clash, there were no changes seen in the IPL 2024 Purple Cap Leaderboard.

Mumbai pacer Jasprit Bumrah continues to lead the chart with 18 wickets in 12 outings. Following closely is PBKS’ Harshal Patel, who has 17 sclaps to his name.

KKR’s spinner Varun Chakaravarthy is slotted at the third place with 16 wickets. Meanwhile, Hyderabad’s T. Natrajan and Punjab’s Arshdeep Singh hold their fourth and fifth positions with 15 scalps each.
