IPL 2024: How can RCB qualify for play-offs after win over SRH?

RCB defeated SRH by 35 runs to register their second win of the IPL 2024.
Match No. 41 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 was played between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Thursday. It ended in RCB’s favour as the visitors registered a 35-run win over a strong SRH side. This was only the second win for Bengaluru in the ongoing IPL 2024. They have played nine games in total and won two matches.
They were at the bottom of the table before this win, and they are still at the 10th place with four points on the board. There is a difference of ten points between them and the table-toppers Rajasthan Royals. RCB are almost out of the competition, but mathematically, there is still a chance for them to make it to play-offs.
IPL 2024: Here is how RCB can still qualify for the playoffs.
As per the tournament structure, 16 points are required to make it a clean qualification to the playoffs in an IPL season, which means 8 wins in total. RCB have two wins as of now, and they have five more games to play, so winning 8 games isn’t possible from here on. Currently, RCB are at the bottom with four points and NRR of -0.721, which is the second-worst in the competition, only better than GT’s -0.974.
But as you know, cricket is a funny game, and there have been some seasons when teams come from the bottom to make it into the playoffs. So why not RCB? Well, for that first, they need five consecutive wins from here on and need to make sure that the winning margin is large to improve NRR.
Five wins will help them reach a total of 14 points and a good NRR. Then, there will be a situation where a few more teams have 14 points, and if RCB have a better NRR, they can make it to the fourth spot in the points table. They will also need some other outside results to go in their favour. Especially, Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders whould win all of their remaining games from here.
