Adam Zampa picked up eight wickets at an average of 23.50 for RR in the IPL 2023.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) leg-spinner Adam Zampa has pulled out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season due to personal reasons, according to multiple media reports. The Australian cricketer was bought by the Royals in the IPL 2023 auction for Rs 1.5 crores and then got retained for the same amount before IPL 2024.

Zampa took eight wickets at an average of 23.50 with an economy rate of 8.54, including figures of 3 for 22 in a home victory over Chennai Super Kings in 2023 edition of the tournament.

The Australian cricketer had previously represented the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (then Royal Challengers Bangalore) and Rising Pune Super Giants at the showpiece event. In 20 appearances in the IPL, Zampa has scalped 29 wickets, spread across four different seasons.

Why Adam Zampa is not taking part in IPL 2024 event?

After playing the ODI World Cup 2023, Zampa stayed in India to be with Australian side for a five-match T20I series before the start of his new Big Bash League (BBL) campaign for Melbourne Renegades.

The 31-year-old then took part in Australia’s two T20I series against the West Indies at home and then in New Zealand. According to newspaper The Australian, the star leg-spinner Zampa was due to represent the Royals this season but has opted to take a break from the game to refresh.

It is understood that the decision to skip the IPL 2024 is based purely on his intent to make a comeback freshly for the Australian T20I side for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in the Caribbean Islands & USA.

Meanwhile, the Rajasthan-based franchise is yet to announce any replacement of Adam Zampa.
