IPL 2024: Will Suryakumar Yadav play MI's next match against DC? Revealed

Suryakumar Yadav has been out of action since December last year after injuring his ankle in South Africa.
Ace batter Suryakumar Yadav is fully fit to play in the IPL 2024 and might be part of Mumbai Indians’ (MI) upcoming match against Delhi Capitals (DC), according to sources. Suryakumar Yadav is an important batter for the Mumbai Indians, however, he has been on the sidelines since December last year and missed the first three IPL 2024 matches for MI.
In Suryakumar Yadav’s absence, the Mumbai Indians have struggled to make a decent start in the IPL 2024. MI fell to the Gujarat Titans in their first match. Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated them by 31 runs in the second match. MI lost their most recent match to the Rajasthan Royals by six wickets.
Notably, the Hardik Pandya-led side utterly lost its way in two games. SRH destroyed their bowling by scoring the IPL’s highest-ever score of 277. In the previous game, the Rajasthan Royals shredded MI’s batting, reducing them to 125/9. Later, they easily won in the sixteenth over.
Suryakumar Yadav to return to competitive cricket for the first time since December 2023
The top-ranked T20I batsman last played competitive cricket in December 2023, when he hit a century in the third T20I against South Africa. However, during that series, he sustained a grade 2 ankle rupture that necessitated surgery. Then, Suryakumar later underwent surgery for a sports hernia, delaying his comeback to cricket while he completed his recovery at the NCA facility in Bengaluru.
According to the Indian Express, Yadav was pronounced fit by the National Cricket Academy (NCA). According to an official from the BCCI, Surya is now fully fit to play in the IPL.
“He is fit now. The NCA made him play a few practice games, and he looked good. He can join the Mumbai Indians team. We wanted to be sure that when Surya goes back to MI, he is 100 percent fit and ready to play games. He wasn’t feeling 100% during his first fitness test before the IPL, so we waited to see if there was any pain while he was batting”, the official said.
The 33-year-old will join the MI franchise for a practice session at Wankhede Stadium as they prepare for their next home encounter against the Delhi Capitals, which is slated for the afternoon of April 7. The team management will decide on his participation based on how well he performs in the net session in terms of fitness.
