The IPL 2025 will resume on May 17.
The revised schedule for remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 was announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on May 12, 2025. As per the release, the IPL’s 18th edition will resume on May 17, and the remaining 17 matches will be played across six different venues.
Notably, the IPL 2025, that was going great guns with close matches and nail biting finishes came to an abrupt halt on May 9. The occasion was the Punjab Kings versus Delhi Capitals match that was being played at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium in Dharamsala.
PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer had won the toss and chosen to bat first and had raced to 122/1 in 10.1 overs, when the match was abruptly halted midway and the venue was evacuated soon after.
The location, which is less than 100 kilometers from Pathankot, where warnings of an air raid were made, has become the center of growing friction between the Indian and Pakistani militaries.
Initially believed to be a technological glitch, the situation quickly deteriorated as the players and officials realized the security risks posed by the air raid sirens.
The decision to postpone the IPL was made after a call with IPL chairman Arun Dhumal and other BCCI executives, including the joint secretary Devajit Saikia. The suspension of IPL 2025 was communicated to all franchises. Most of the foreign players have left for their home countries as well, as the tensions de-escalated between India and Pakistan.
The six venues that will host the remainder of the IPL 2025

Also, the venues for the playoffs will be announced on a later date. Qualifier 1 and Eliminator will be played on May 29 and 30, respectively, while Qualifier 2 will go ahead on June 1.
The Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals match, which was abandoned due to a security incident in Dharamsala, has been rescheduled to May 24 and will now be played in Jaipur.
Jaipur and Delhi will host three games, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, and Lucknow will host two games each, while Mumbai will host one game.
