IPL 2025 mega auction: 3 teams who might target Yuzvendra Chahal
Yuzvendra Chahal has been released by Rajasthan Royals ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction.
Yuzvendra Chahal’s release came as one of the biggest surprises before the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 auction. Chahal spent three seasons at Rajasthan Royals (RR) during which he claimed 66 wickets in 46 matches.
Joining in 2022, Chahal made an instant impact at RR, winning the purple cap in his first season at the franchise. Chahal was pivotal in Rajasthan’s successful IPL 2022 campaign, claiming 27 wickets in 17 games.
Chahal has represented three franchises in his IPL career – Mumbai Indians (MI), Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Rajasthan Royals (RR).
Chahal’s ability to bowl in death overs provides a much-desired luxury for teams. Being the most successful bowler in the history of IPL with 205 wickets, Chahal is expected to trigger a bidding war in the upcoming auction.
On that note let’s look at the three teams that might look to sign Chahal ahead of the next season.
Three teams which might target Yuzvendra Chahal in the IPL 2025 mega auction:
1. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB)
Having represented the franchise from 2014 to 2021, Yuzvendra Chahal’s potential return will mark a fitting reunion. Chahal has been the most successful bowler for RCB, taking 177 wickets in 114 games at a bowling average of 21.50.
Renowned for his bravery on the M. Chinnaswamy ground, Chahal is known for playing mind games with the batsman. If RCB buy Chahal at the upcoming mega auction, his ability to control the run flow in the middle overs will be extremely valuable for the franchise.
2. Delhi Capitals (DC)
If picked by Delhi Capitals, Chahal would join Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel and form a formidable spin trio. Similar to the Chinnaswamy Stadium of Bengaluru, Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium is regarded as one of the best six-hitting grounds in the country.
Chahal’s experience, combined with a successful combination with Kuldeep Yadav, could prove to be a game-changer for the Capitals if they sign him.
3. Chennai Super Kings (CSK)
Five-time IPL winners Chennai Super Kings would be an ideal fit for Yuzvendra Chahal. CSK’s home ground, the Chepauk, is regarded as one of the most spin-friendly venues in the IPL.
Chahal’s possible move to Chennai will pair him with Ravindra Jadeja, making one of the best spin duos of the tournament. This potential move will also mark Chahal’s reunion with MS Dhoni, whose guidance from behind the wicket will make him even more lethal.
