IPL 2025: Call on tournament to be taken tomorrow, BCCI arranges special train to evacuate players from Dharamsala

The PBKS vs DC clash of IPL 2025 in Dharamsala was stopped midway due to security reasons.
The Indian cricket fans were shocked to witness the match 58 of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 getting abandoned on Thursday, May 8. Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) clashed in the encounter at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium in Dharamsala.
However, the match was called off midway due to security reasons. Notably, there was a power outage inside the HPCA stadium during the 11th over of the first innings. The floodlights stopped working and the match had to be called off. Also, players, umpires, match officials, as well as the spectators were urged to vacate the stadium due to security reasons.
BCCI to bring back players safely from Dharamsala by special train
Now, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is looking to move the players out of Dharamsala city as soon as possible. BCCI is looking to arrange a special train to move the players of DC and PBKS safely out of Dharamsala.
The airports have been affected inside the city due to the ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan in the aftermath of Operation Sindoor. BCCI vice-president Rajiv Shukla has said that BCCI is looking to bring back players, support staff, umpires, broadcasting panel, and umpires safely from the city.
“We are organising a special train from close to Dharamsala to bring everybody home safely. As of now the match has been called off and the stadium has been evacuated,” BCCI vice-president Rajiv Shukla said.
Moreover, the BCCI will also take a decision tomorrow (May 9) about the future of IPL 2025. He also added that PBKS vs DC clash could not be completed due to security reasons.
“We will take a call on the tournament’s future depending on the situation tomorrow. As of now, players’ safety is utmost important. The match couldn’t have continued tonight because of the situation. It wasn’t safe,” he further added.
On Thursday, May 8 evening, BCCI shifted the venue of the forthcoming PBKS vs MI match from Dharamsala to Ahmedabad. The encounter is now scheduled to be played at the Narendra Modi International Crickt Stadium on Sunday afternoon. A total of 58 games in the tournament have been completed.
