IPL 2025: Best XI of the tournament Ft. Shreyas Iyer

The IPL 2025 witnessed spectacular performances with bat and ball over the last two and half months.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 concluded on Tuesday (3rd June). The final was played between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Narendra Modi International Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad. And RCB finally ended the 18-year wait as they lifted their first-ever title.
The IPL 2025 witnessed spectacular performances with bat and ball over the last two months as players brought their best and helped their respective teams reach the top. As the tournament concluded now, we look at the best XI of this edition of the IPL.
Openers – Sai Sudharsan and Virat Kohli
Gujarat Titans (GT) opener Sai Sudharsan and RCB batter Virat Kohli take the opening spots in the best XI of IPL 2025. The duo was one of the major reasons behind their respective franchise reaching the playoffs. Both batters did the bulk of the scoring and arguably were the best openers in the tournament.
Sai Sudharsan finished the tournament as the leading run-getter as he slammed 759 runs at an average of over 54 to go with six fifties and one ton. Virat Kohli, on the other hand, mustered 657 runs at an average of 54.82. He also hit eight fifties in the 15 games that he played in the IPL 2025.
Three and four – Shreyas Iyer (c) and Suryakumar Yadav
PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer takes the number three spot and will also be captaining the best XI of the tournament. The right-hander is having his best season in the league, and the number of runs that he scored was sensational, leading the way for his team. Suryakumar Yadav also had his best campaign in the IPL 2025, unfortunately, his effort went in vain as the Mumbai Indians (MI) lost Qualifier 2.
Shreyas Iyer, who captained PBKS in the IPL 2025 final, has slammed 604 runs in the tournament at an average of 50.33. He also has hit six fifties with the best of an unbeaten 97. Suryakumar Yadav, on the other hand, finished as the second-highest run-getter of the tournament with 717 runs to his name at an average of over 65 to go with five fifties.
Five, six, seven – Nicholas Pooran, Heinrich Klaasen (wk), Krunal Pandya
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) star Nicholas Pooran, who batted at three for the majority of the IPL 2025, will be taking the number five spot in the best XI of the season. He will be followed by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) keeper-batter Heinrich Klaasen, who also was at his best with the bat while batting down the order.
Nicholas Pooran ended the tournament with 524 runs to his name from 14 games at an average of over 43. He had a strike rate of 196.25 and slammed five fifties. Klaasen hit 487 runs in 13 games, slamming one ton and one half-century in the season.
At seven, RCB’s Krunal Pandya will be playing the role of all-rounder. The left-hander was decent for his team with bat, but with the ball, he picked up 17 wickets in the tournament, including 2/17 in the final, which proved to be the turning point of the game.
Fast bowlers – Prasidh Krishna, Josh Hazlewood and Jasprit Bumrah
The pace battery of the best XI of the IPL 2025 will include Prasidh Krishna, Josh Hazlewood and Jasprit Bumrah. The trio were magnificent with the ball for their respective teams, and it was because of their effort that GT, RCB and MI reached the playoffs.
Prasidh Krishna won the Purple Cap in IPL 2025 with 25 wickets, while Josh Hazlewood finished as the third leading wicket-taker with 22 scalps. Jasprit Bumrah also ended up amongst the highest wicket-takers as he took 18 wickets in the 12 games that he played.
Spinners – Noor Ahmad and Varun Chakravarthy (Impact player)
Noor Ahmad, who was shining light for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL 2025, will be leading the spin bowling attack of the team. He bagged 24 wickets in the league and will be joined by Varun Chakravarthy of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The mystery spinner will be playing as an impact player. He bagged 17 wickets in the league.
