GT are second on the points table with 18 points.
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will clash in the 70th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The last league match of IPL 2025 will be played at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
Interestingly, the result of LSG vs RCB clash will decide the fortunes of Gujarat Titans (GT) team in the points table. Shubman Gill is the skipper of GT in IPL 2025. They grab the second spot in the points table with 18 points.
However, GT have played all of their games in the league stage. Out of 14 games, they won nine matches and lost five encounters. Punjab Kings (PBKS) steal the top spot in the points table with 19 points. They have confirmed their spot in Qualifier 1 match.
How will the result of LSG vs RCB cost GT a place in the top two?
Notably, RCB aim for a top-two finish in the points table with a victory against LSG in the next game. The Rajat Patidar & Co. capture the third spot in the points table with 17 points. Hence, if they defeat LSG in the clash, they will either take the first spot or the second spot in the points table with 19 points in kitty.
On the other hand, if LSG defeats RCB in the 70th match of IPL 2025, then the latter will stay in the third spot with 17 points. Hence, RCB’s victory in the match will displace GT to the third spot in the points table, and they will have to play the Eliminator against Mumbai Indians. LSG’s victory in the clash will help Titans to retain their second spot in the final team standings.
Interestingly, the Shubman Gill & Co. had a good chance to finish in the top two spots in the points table. However, they lost both of their last matches of the league stage.
Meanwhile, the top two teams in the points table will lock horns in the Qualifier 1 match. They will get two opportunities to grab a spot in the final. The IPL 2025 playoffs will begin on May 29. The Qualifier 1 and Eliminator matches will take place on May 29 and May 30, respectively.
The venue of both games is the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Chandigarh. The Qualifier 2 and final will take place on June 1 and June 3, respectively. Narendra Modi Stadium is the venue of both encounters.
