Matthew Wade played for Gujarat Titans in IPL 2022 and IPL 2024.
On Sunday, March 9, Gujarat Titans (GT) announced Matthew Wade as their assistant coach for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
His appointment comes after the franchise’s poor performance in IPL 2024, where they finished eighth in the points table with 12 points from 14 games, securing five wins.
GT made interesting acquisitions during the IPL 2025 mega auction, which included several international superstars like Kagiso Rabada, Jos Buttler, and Mohammed Siraj.
GT will begin their IPL 2025 campaign against Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Tuesday, March 25, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Wade will join the GT coaching staff as an assistant coach, which already includes Ashish Nehra (Head Coach), Parthiv Patel (Batting Coach), Aashish Kapoor, and Narender Negi (Assistant Coaches).
He played 12 games for the franchise between IPL 2022 and 2024 and scored a total of 161 runs. The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 winner retired from international cricket in October 2024 and quickly transitioned into a coaching role under Andre Borovec for a T20I series against Pakistan.
The Titans on Sunday, March 9, announced hiring Matthew Wade as their assistant coach through a social media post on X (formerly Twitter) ahead of the upcoming season.
“Champion. Fighter. Now our Assistant Coach! Welcome back to the GT Dugout, Matthew Wade!” posted GT on X.
Earlier, GT reached the finals of IPL 2022 and 2023 under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya. They won the competition in 2022 and finished as runners-up in 2023 edition.
They will aim to make a strong comeback this season under the captaincy of Shubman Gill.
