IPL 2025 mega auction: CSK use RTM card, buy back Rachin Ravindra

Rachin Ravindra scored 222 runs for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2024.
Rachin Ravindra has quickly established himself as one of the most exciting young talents in the world. His excellent performance at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, where he scored 578 runs in the tournament, introduced his batting prowess to the world.
Rachin made his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in 2024. He is a versatile player who can bat anywhere in the top order. Furthermore, his excellent technique against spinners and his handy slow left-arm orthodox bowling make him a valuable asset in T20 format.
Chennai Super Kings buys Rachin Ravindra for 4 crores
At the IPL 2025 mega auction, CSK exercised their RTM option and secured Rachin’s services once again for INR 4 crores.
CSK were the first team to bid for Ravindra at his base price of INR 1.5 crores and then PBKS came into the race. Both raised the bids to INR 3.2 crores when CSK moved out. However, CSK returned with their RTM card to ultimately secure the Kiwi all-rounder for INR 4 crores.
Ravindra’s return will boost the CSK batting order already consisting of big names like Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devon Conway, Rahul Tripathi and Shivam Dube. The youngster can also chip in with handy left-arm orthodox bowling in the middle overs.
Rachin Ravindra previously in the IPL
At the last IPL auction in 2023, Rachin was picked by CSK for INR 1.8 crores after his breakout performance in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. Ravindra was expected to play a bench role in his first season, but Devon Conway’s injury before the tournament made him a starter for the franchise.
Rachin started the IPL season in an excellent fashion scoring 37 off 15 balls in his debut game against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Ravindra followed up his blistering knock with another impressive performance against Gujarat Titans scoring 46 off 20 balls.
Although his form dipped as the season progressed, Ravindra finished the IPL 2024 campaign with 222 runs with a strike rate of 160.87.
