IPL 2025 mega auction: CSK buy back Devon Conway for 6.25 crores
Devon Conway scored 672 runs for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2023.
Known for his solid technique in the longest format of the game, New Zealand opener Devon Conway has adapted his game to the modern quick-scoring demands of T20 cricket. Conway made his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut in 2022 playing for Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
Conway’s solid technique against spin as well as consistency in the top order has made him a valuable asset in the IPL.
Chennai Super Kings buys Devon Conway for INR 6.25 crore
Devon Conway will head back to CSK for INR 6.25 crores. CSK opened the bid for the Kiwi opener before engaging in a head-on clash with Punjab Kings (PBKS). Punjab eventually took an exit at INR 6.25 crores giving the player to Chennai.
Conway has previously played for CSK in the IPL. He was the leading run-scorer for the “Yellow Army” in 2023, helping the team to their fifth IPL title. Conway’s return to the franchise will pair him with captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, reigniting their highly successful partnership in the tournament.

Devon Conway started his IPL career with CSK in 2022. Conway’s first season at the yellow franchise was underwhelming with the left-hander only scoring 252 runs in the tournament. In a disappointing year, CSK finished ninth on the points table.
He played a vital role in CSK’s title-winning campaign in 2023, scoring 47 runs from 25 balls and earning a Player of the Match award in the tournament final. Conway capped off his impressive season with 672 runs at a strike rate of 139.7.
Conway missed the 2024 IPL season with injury. He was bought by CSK in 2022 at his base price of INR 1 crore.
