Trent Boult took 16 wickets in the IPL 2024 for Rajasthan Royals.

New Zealand pacer Trent Boult is one of the best new ball bowlers in the world. With the ability to swing the new ball prodigiously, Boult has dismantled several batting greats of his generation.

The 35-year-old Boult made his international debut in all three formats between 2011 and 2013. Throughout his career, he remained a key cog in New Zealand’s bowling attack and formed an all-time great duo with Tim Southee.

He played a crucial role in New Zealand reaching the knockout stages of several ICC tournaments from 2016 to 2022. Boult was a vital member of the Black Caps test team that won the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2019-21.

He has picked up 317 test wickets, 211 ODI wickets, and 83 T20I wickets. Across the three formats, Boult bagged 16 five-wicket hauls.

Trent Boult sold to Mumbai Indians for INR 12.5 crore

Mumbai Indians shelled out INR 12.5 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction to buy back Trent Boult, who was with them in IPL 2020 and 2021.

Trent Boult previously in the IPL

Trent Boult has played for five Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises so far. He started his IPL career in 2015 with Sunrisers Hyderabad and was with Kolkata Knight Riders for one season in 2017.

In his first three seasons, Boult didn’t get much opportunities. He became a regular playing XI member from the IPL 2018 season onwards when he picked up 18 wickets for Delhi Capitals.

Ahead of the IPL 2020 season, Boult was traded to Mumbai Indians (MI) and made a huge impact in their title-winning campaign with 25 wickets and was the Man of the Match in the final.

In the IPL 2022 mega auction, Boult was bought by Rajasthan Royals (RR) for INR 8 crore and spent three seasons at RR, snaring 45 wickets in all.

Overall, Boult has picked up 121 wickets in his 104-match IPL career.
